Is there a simple gain / fader / metering app on ios?

Hi all,

On desktop, one of my most used plugins is Sonalksis Free G. It's a simple gain plugin, with a fader, trim, metering, phase, and a couple of other things.
This is it - https://www.sonalksis.com/freeg.html

I've looked for something similar in the app store, but can't find anything. It's baffling, as it is such a handy tool.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there something similar in the app store that I've missed?

Cheers!

  • I've been looking for something like this as well.
Stereo positioning and frequency spread visuals would be helpful too.
I haven't tried yet, but maybe it can be built in NuRack by 4Pockets.

  • It's really surprising that there's nothing out there. There are numerous options on desktop for this sort of thing (although I favour the Sonalksis plugin, Izotope have one, Black Cat have one, to name just two)

  • Hmm, looks like NuRack has most of the required elements, but we need something that's extremely efficient, which NuRack really isn't. (I'm not a developer, but NuRack appears similar to building in Reaktor Blocks, vs building in the lower-level Primary or Core; Blocks is a resource hog).

  • Barricade is great.

Also includes the best clipper/saturator on iOS, a compressor and a limiter with “true peak”.

Was just reading the manual for Barricade. I’ve recently uploaded a track to YouTube and it’s been badly limited, I guess I didn’t provide healthy levels and it was squashed. So I’m the manual it says that the metering on Barricade (lm max, ls Max and program) is in LUFS… @jolico since you seem to know Barricade quite well… if YouTube wants a 14LUFS file. Is that the “program” number in Barricade?. I believe m8ne was higher. Thanks!

  • Audiobus and AUM include some of this in their basic function as "mixers". So do most DAWs, and Drambo. Since the hosts include the functionality, maybe a plugin is redundant?

Have you evaluated the performance of NuRack? Or are you assuming based on a different program on a different platform? NuRack uses Apple's AUv3, which is a pretty efficient mechanism for plugins. I just put together a gain, inverter, and meters in NuRack. It seems to have no effect on DSP on my iPad 6.

Wouldn't it be handy to insert one (or many more) of these metering plugins anywhere in an effects chain, to check for overload, positioning, or phase issues?

Yes, I have evaluated NuRack. It's not what I would call 'efficient'. Or 'reliable'.

    Yes. Program is LUFS.
