  • Awesome! Thank you @branis that was so helpful.

I’m using Cubasis - any idea how I could automate VS? I’m not using any external MIDI devices…

    But thank you so much!

    Mark.

I works with audio too. You need to use the AMP for that. Set the threshold so that only the peaks exceeds it to get a rhythmic effect. E.g. in the default patch you can set AM1 to control the brightness. To see the effect, set the brightness to zero and remove the EG brightness modulation by setting it to zero too, then crank up the AM1 modulation to 1:

  • Just to clarify a little - in Cubasis, I have VS on the Master (buss). It can react to the audio input just fine. But any ideas how to send MIDI information to VS on the Master buss?

Alternatively if I launch VS separately from Cubasis, I can send MIDI data to VS but not any audio. Not even sure where to start with AudioBus in this scenario…

    Thanks again!

Sorry, Audiobus will not help for this. The standalone can only get audio in through external audio like the microphone.

I don’t have Cubasis so I don’t really know how MIDI routing is done there, but I can help with the Audiobus setup.

In the Audio tab load Cubasis one one channel, then add the VS AUv3 as an insert effect on the same channel. This should send audio through VS.

Next, on the MIDI tab set Cubasis as the input and the same instance of VS as the output. You’d still need to route MIDI from Cubasis to VS, but as I said I don’t know how that’s done

  • Anyone here get the recordings shortened. I recorded 2:20 and hit the stop (red button) in VS at that mark. Saved video was however only 1:37. I'l do some more see if it persist, was just curious if anyone else had the same issue.

I’m still using the iPadOS screen capture method, which works perfectly.

I’ll let this built-in recorder thing mature a little more before trying to use it, unless you, or anyone can tell me what advantages this would have?

Yeah you might be right, I now extended the fps to 60 and the video got even shorter :D :D BUT this time it is the full video so I guess I can just time-stretch it in Luma see how that pans out.

Cool, yeah, I just got the new M1 as well (I got the 12.9 w/1TB) so I finally have room to install stuff like Luma Fusion, but you know what.. I’ve been using and learning how to use CapCut, and so far, I feel like everything I can think of doing with a video, I can do in CapCut! It’s really an amazing video editor!

I know Luma Fusion is much more advanced and powerful, but I’m going to have to start at square one, as I’m completely lost in this app lol

I get that, I use Lighttricks VideoLeap which is really good and smooth to work with but you know, it (Luma) is what the pros use ;D so ..

  • Hey, thought I'd share a video I made using VS. I have output of the M8 Tracker going into VS and set up a few layers that have a mixture of LFO modulation and also triggers based on frequency bands of the incoming audio. Makes an otherwise fairly generic and boring top-down-gear video a little more interesting!

  • @jmcmeex
    Nice beats!
I forgot the video for a bit as I was dancing like crazy man!
    Very nice!
