A startup I worked for in the early 2000s went through this (although the complaint they got was that the company name "sounds like" the other company's name. They hired an attorney who said "ignore it" but keep a file of any communications you get, and insist that they cease and desist all non-written communications - attorneys at these companies spend their downtime writing letters like this with no intention of following up with legal action - it's a cheap way to scare small companies into relinquishing their rights to valid names.
