app to normalize file (adjustable)
Since Cubasis has only the option to normalize to 0db, I would like to know if there are any quick options out there to normalize files to adjustable -db levels.
I know Auria can normalize to whatever level you want, but it's a mess to move files to auria or dropbox just for this reason.
Does "Limiter - Audio Processor" from amazing noises have this option?

Auditor by Living Memory lets you normalize to a set maximum level, AND you can batch process. It’s an absolutely amazing toolkit
You can do it manually with most apps that process audio if there’s a level control. 0dB is somewhat arbitrary, so just use your ears to balance the levels.
Twistedwave audio editor gives a few normalization options
Will check, thanks a lot everyone!!!!
0dbfs isn’t arbitrary. If you’re talking 0dbvu, then you just have to know the calibration for dbfs.
I guess things can be arbitrary if the app in question isn’t really calibrated to anything, but that wouldn’t really be great practice.
And in the end, you’re correct about using your ears, that should always be the final judge unless you’re in a broadcast type situation where certain levels are a legal issue. Doesn’t really apply to this use case however.
TwistedWave is what I use. After mastering, I reduce my file to -3dB before posting to SoundCloud since SC's lossy compression is shite, and I don't want my tracks distorting.
That's a nice @jwmmakerofmusic !! Just what I was looking for, thanks.
Another vote for Auditor from me. Awesome app. Imho best audio file editor on iOS.
Hmmmmm. This is interesting…. Never thought about that. So once you are complete with mastering you run the track through TwistedWave and lower the DB?
Can AudioLeveler or Auditor do this as well??
It is just an additional process to lower the overall volume to -3dBFS so the peaks of the source material won't get over the threshold. It doesn't matter which program or app you use. Normalizing just analyses your track and takes care that the loudest peaks hit exactly -3dBFS. Of course everything else is also getting quieter as well. You could also set the maximum output volume of your limiter to -3dBFS in the mastering process and you will get the same results. It's about avoiding distortion because you have enough headroom for the internal conversion of the streaming services.

Thanks. That’s what I normally do in barricade is set to -3db.
Yes, Auditor can do that. That is simply normalizing with -3db set as the max volume.
Setting the limiter to -3dB is definitely another way to do it, but for me I prefer to have the -0.3dB and -3dB versions, so it's quicker for me to do it in TwistedWave.
Exactly. This way you get the optimal master and an optimized one for your preferred streaming service.
Exactly mate.
Cheers.
