Turn your iPad with control keyboard into a ARRANGER KEYBOARD

edited June 2021 in General App Discussion

The title is tricky, because I don't know an iOS app that can turn an iPad into a let say "Korg PA700 Arranger Keyboard". But I saw an interesting video presenting desktop application "Vengeance Producer Suite" by Avenger, which can do something like that.

  • 1) The left hand plays chords - arrangement adapts to chords in real time: bass, guitar, organs, synth, etc.
  • 2) The right hand plays melodies. (1 + 2 = split keyboard)
  • 3) Quick access to execute different parts, eg. intro / part A / part B / transition 1 / transition 2 / ending. Avenger approach is different: 3 knobs + drums on/off.
  • 4) Quick access to assigned e.g. 4 different solo instruments to current style.

Do we have that kind of app on iOS or do someone know it might come out soon on iOS?
Possibly which of the current iOS tools are most easily to adapt to achieve that kind of result?

    ‘One Man Band Live’ for $30 does the arranger keyboard software tricks and can import Yamaha styles.
    I think there’s a Lite version for evaluating the app.

    Building it by hand from other apps is possible but in a rather clumsy way that would be a performer’s nightmare

  • I recall someone asking this kind of stuff before. And there where loads of ideas on the topic. If I find it I will link it :lol:
    I guess what McD mentioned could be a good one, building it yourself, but something like Mozaic could be used to make it less clumsy.

    Trying to think if Yamaha's Mobile Music Sequencer could change styles with midi triggers 🤔

    @McD,
    Thanks for comment :) I did a quick test of OneManBand Lite app (free version) and I have to say it meets all requirements mentioned in points 1-4 :) The interface looks 90s and could be nicer to the eye, but functionality is more important, and this is OK. I have to play longer to form my opinion. The proposed default SoundFont bank is not impressive, but I've seen the demos use the bank from this site https://www.veekeysvi.com and it's really good - I attach a link to the video at the end of the comment. The biggest advantage in my opinion is the huge number of free styles on the Internet and their support by this app - endless possibilities. Additionally it takes only 2.2 MB :o

    Summary: App 30$ (+ possibly nice SoundFonts 24$)

    @BiancaNeve,
    Thanks for the info about another app :) That app looks much more friendly, exactly like the real keybord on the iPad screen with an additional LCD inside ;) Looks much more advanced and sounds nice right away. I haven't tested it yet, so at the moment I don't know if it's easy to use LIVE. I have the impression that OneManBand may be more convenient due to the very simple menu and large selection squares, however ORG 2022 definitely can do a lot more. Can't find any good style example on YT.

    Summary: 25$ (all features unlock "VIP" IAP)

    @senhorlampada,
    If you find that thread it would be great if you could paste a link to it. Thanks :) I will search https://patchstorage.com, maybe there is some kind of plugins for that kind of play inside Mozaic :) If I remember correctly, someone built a very advanced sequencer in Mozaic during Covid time, which was available in a demo version and was supposed to be priced and available for sale. However I don't know if has offered features that would fulfill "Arranger keyboard" kind of play.

    EDIT: I found it (Flow - multi-track midi sequencer/looper), links below:

  • I know this is iOS/iPAD OS community but there is a great app in android called Midi Arranger. You can watch all the videos here - https://www.youtube.com/@AndroiMIDIArranger/videos
    You can still connect this app with USB Midi and get the result. Wish this app was built for iPAD OS also. Instant hit.
