Question about Seaboard Block
I think I want to buy a Seaboard Block. My budget is 500$ for an MPE midi controller and I think this one will fit the bill.
Do I need something else with this?
I just want to be sure that this is not an extension for the Seaboard family. I want to buy something standalone to use with my iPad.
I don't like midi via Bluetooth. Is there a way to connect the seaboard to your iPad via USB?
Is this the better 500$ I can spent for an MPE midi controller (it may be subjective, but I ask the question anyways).
The ERAE Touch is very tempting, but with all the fees, the price will be 1000 Canadians dollars for me instead of 500 for the Seaboard Block.
Thank you for any info.

Personally, if I wanted an MPE controller I would probably opt for the Sensel Morph as I love the idea of being able to create your own layout, but, unless I'm mistaken, the Arturia Microfreak also allows you to use it as an MPE controller which would be a very interesting proposition as you obviously also get a very intriguing synth into the bargain
Do you know if the Microfreak is 5 dimensional like the SB?
Unless you're primarily a guitarist, in which case you want an Artiphon Instrument 1. But yes, I'd go for it; the Seaboard is a responsive, well-designed, pleasantly tactile controller, but what really sells it is the desktop soundware that comes with it and the various discounts on ROLI's and FXpansion's desktop synths. Equator 2 in particular is absolutely sensational.
I play guitar, yes. Is it possible to send multiple midi signals with a guitar and Midi Guitar 2, the App on iOS?
If I slide my string, will it be the same result when I'm controlling, let's say, Animoog?
How many kind of midi signal can Midi Guitar 2 can send?
This 💯
For my money, if I could do it all again I wouldn’t have grabbed 2 Seaboard blocks for iOS. The ‘squishy’ appeal got old fast and Sensel morph became way more practical, customizable and fun in real life on iOS. And in a world where every DAW/app on iOS does what it wants with no regard for standards, that customizability is super important.
And add the plastic on the Roli stuff (lightpads and lumi included) just cracking when it feels like it, complications on the resale process, battery issues for some, and a company that just doesn’t seem to care about iOS overall anymore and it’s not where I’d throw my money.
Sensel is painfully slow with some people’s wishes and updates, but, they are responsive, appear to care about iOS still and represent the absolute best $ value in the world of MPE and beyond. The build quality inspires confidence (you can even use drum sticks on the thing). It’s my everywhere, everything device.
The bad news is they’re hard to get right now.
Thanks! I think I will rewatch your video about the Sensel Morph.
Save your shekels and get an Osmose sometime next fall. $1800, but an incredible (seeming) step for MPE. Nothing else like it and the Haken engine.
Yep, obviously, this controller looks incredible!
But my budget is 500 Canadians dollars! 1800$ USD = 2 227,96 CAD$
@Montreal_Music ...ouch! Sorry, mate.
@Montreal_Music If you can, try one before you buy. I had a Roli and never liked it. The keys felt squishy in a very unresponsive way. It never felt like I was really controlling anything, and I always had to press too hard.
The seaboard block is great with the noise app. Bluetooth works great and the battery lasts longer then your iPads. You can connect via usb as well.
I got the kit and the block gives you another 25 keys. Then you might also like a phone with touch force to play the third voice. To bad that the swam instruments in noise are not available in the AU version.
Also got the microfreak and have to say that its synth engine gives me even more joy then the individual pitchbend of mpe.
linnstrument.
