I already have most of these but I'm very curious to hear what people think about Midi Pattern Sequencer.
Comments
I'd be interested in hearing about Midi Pattern Sequencer too. I have a midi sequencer sized hole in my app collection and I'm keen to plug it.
Me three. Is this a MIDI sequencer in the same vein as Analog MIDISequencer? Wondering how useful it is for composing/programming notes, or if it's more meant for controlling multiple apps/devices in a live setting.
Here's a demo video with terrible audio quality, but actually shows programming a note (around 1:50 mark). Looks interesting. I also like the note "tie" editor, looked easy to use.
Despite the small file size and fair price, my concerns about this would be as follows:
This whole series is top notch, if i had to pick one, Audio Mastering, an essential tool for me.
I'm probably gonna give the MIDI Pattern Sequencer a whirl, other than Thesys (haven't tried Cubasis), this app seems like the only sequencer that will take any CC input. Am I missing any other sequencers that do this?
Buying Audio Mastering - considered doing so in the past but the updates and this sale make it even more enticing
Hmmm...I should prolly nab that sequencer.

The free Nord Beat 2 sequencer (developed by Kymatica) allows you to set any cc on the available patterns. But since it's mainly developed for sequencing drummachines, it is limited in terms of available patterns etc. But it's completely free, and definitely a handy cc/stepsequencer to have around. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nord-beat-2/id542657071
Awesome, thanks!!
@ChrisG - Thanks! That is a pretty nice MIDI app for free! I hooked up Addictive Synth to it and immediately had it going with Virtual MIDI. As you said, it's mainly for drums, but you can assign a MIDI note number to it and it will play (one of 6) notes. Curious what else I could get it to do. (Bass sequencer might work really well!)
That interface is gorgeous and just so easy to use on iPad - if only they allowed to set notes I would totally pay $5 for something like that. The pattern switching works very well!
What is everyone's thoughts about Master FX. I have Audio Mastering and really like it. Auria with a few FabFilter plugs works well for me. But this is a hell of a value that I don't want to miss on!
@headphones I use MasterFX on just about everything. Works and sounds great with all the music apps I've used with it so far. Well worth the money, in my opinion.
MIDI Pattern Sequencer is pretty cool. Very different from Genome in my opinion. Once you get you head around how it works, it is pretty versatile. My current messing involves it and NanoStudio and kinda using it like a groovebox. There is only one thing I don't like about it. When you exit it to go to another app (like the one it is controlling) and come back to it you have to wait a few seconds for it to open back up. There is a rotating box thingy to let you know it is loading, but it takes a bit.
Phew... I got it yesterday and don't find it intuitive nor straight forward. One evening was not enough for me to get through. There was a nice groove at the end but it didn't come from my good old nave what I was attempting. Good fun though. I will get some tuts on YT.
Cheers
MIDI Pattern Sequencer stills get me curious but every time I watch a YT video I think "Damn, that's a lot of tapping".
For those that own it... How is it in reality? How do you use it?
@syrupcore
If you have a drum track it is very quick to input beats. A note track take a bit more time, but if you have an external keyboard, then it goes faster. It really isn't too bad, as far as the tapping goes, once you figure out the way things flow with it. It is pretty deep with what you can do, so it seemed kinda overwhelming at first. The more I play with it the more I like it.

That's cool! I passed on it this time around - wasn't convinced enough it would work for me, plus (and this is the main thing) I have Xynthesizr I've used only a little and Analog MIDI Sequencer I've barely had time to touch. Those are both great apps that deserve some more attention. I actually like the piano roll editor in Caustic a great deal - we are waiting on a 3.1 update that will give it a ton more functionality in iOS (including AudioBus).
Passed on Master FX for similar reasons - went on a recent binge with the AUFX stuff and Turnado/WOW. I should have all those effects already covered.
Audio Mastering, however, is amazing. I read some people here saying that if you don't know what you're doing with mastering, you may be best to not try it. Well, I don't really know what I'm doing, but even just using the presets, maximizer, reverb, etc. made a BIG difference. Almost to the point where it's night and day from my old unmastered tracks.
Agreed @StormJH1, a/b switch keeps me sane.
You sure?...
Only as sure as you, Paula.
I make no claims as to sanity...
Lol, no need to, its apparent
Master Record app has proved useful in my workflow on many occasion. I use it for more than recording.
