iOS14 Settings Passwords question

Hi,

iOS14 has added a feature whereby it can check if your web passwords have been hacked/data leaked & thus recommend you change them (see Settings > Passwords > Security Recommendations).

My email apparently has been leaked twice now in less than a month, so I changed my password on my PC just now. I updated my iphone to use this new password too. However, when I went to the iPhone's Passwords page it still listed the old password. So I restarted the iphone, hoping it would update to the new password, but it didnt. Thus, I decided to left swipe the email & choose Delete > to delete the reference to my email address & hoping it would refresh/update automatically..It didnt (This is still in Settings > Passwords).

So my question is: Is there any way to get my email address back in the Passwords list, so I can be informed the next time someone hacks it?

Sorry for the long post, I tried searching the web & couldnt find an answer, Thanks

  • I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think that feature is a periodic check, like weekly or something. So maybe leave it a while and see if it disappears.

  • Thanks for the reply :) Also I solved this..

SOLUTION: in the same Settings/Passwords page there’s a “+” button in the top right that lets you manually add/re-add websites, it’s a bit slow, but it works!

Also, for anyone interested, I think my email MAY be getting hacked because a lot of my iOS devices are still on iOS 12.3.1, which IIRC, has some security issues - So, I’m removing my email & password from these devices, & just using my PC & iPhoneSE (iOS 14.5) to access email. It’s a bit annoying, but better than having to constantly change passwords, etc

Thanks for reading, wishing you all the best 👍

By the way, you should use “two-factor authentication” for every account of yours if it is allowed. This will drastically reduce the number of hacks possible with all of your accounts.

    Thanks for the advice 👍

EDIT: I've just setup 2FA security
