Nanologue..won’t work with future versions of iOS?
Hi
Anyone noticed this and want to comment please?
If you open the app..the above message appears.
Comments
It doesn't say this on iOS 13.4. though it did say this on iOS 14.4.
It hasn't been updated in 7 years.
I love Nanologue for bass sounds.
I got that message as well, iPadOS 14.4.
Hopefuly it wouldn't die.
Does it matter?
I'm more than happy with Viking and Minimoog Model D.
Have a look of my posting in May:
https://forums.steinberg.net/t/still-using-nanologue/126411/4
Does this mean if I update to iOS 14.6 Nanologue will cease working?
There's only one way to find out as Steinberg
doesn't have any updates planned for Nanologue.
Probably. I cannot install it on iPadOS 14.6. AppStore downloads it, then says it needs to be updated. iOS 14.5 introduced a new Apple signing certificate. Some older apps get this by Offloading and Reloading. But apparently, that's not enough for even older ones.
This is very frustrating. Now I am in a loop where even after deleting the app, it will from time to time pop up messages saying it's not compatible. There doesn't seem to be any way to completely remove it from my account so I don't get the intermittent messages. It's bad enough when you abandon an app but not cleaning up after it is bad form.
I agree that this would be annoying, but the issue would be on Apple's side. The dev wouldn't have anything to do with how an app is deleted.
That's strange. Do you maybe have presets (Audiobus, etc.) that include it? Maybe some app checks all its presets when you load the app, even if you're not referencing that preset?
Do you mean it's popping up messages in the App Store, or actual popup messages on your device?
Every few days I get this annoying message. I literally have never used this app. I downloaded it and it didn’t work.
Now I have to deal with this no matter what I do. Very frustrating!
@sean808080 What iOS version are you running? I have iPadOS 15.1 and when I try to run an outdated app (Epic Synth), I see this image

which I believe hasn't changed from iPadOS 14. Funny that it says "iOS" even though this is iPadOS 15.1 on iPad 6. Your screenshot is different. Do you know why?
Aha, I also see this message. Nanologue is in my AppStore Purchased list, "Not on this iPad". When I try to download it, I see this message from the AppStore. Did you maybe do a clean install of iPadOS and then restore a backup? That could cause this, since the restore tries to reload all the apps from the AppStore, and Nanologue cannot be installed. You could try deleting it from your Purchased list.
Does the Delete option not work?
I’ve deleted many times. Doesn’t help!
@sean808080 Did you restore a backup when installing iPadOS 15?
No. Just do in-place updates. The iPad Pro has never given me any trouble otherwise. JUST THIS DAMN APP!
Right. Well, it does look like the AppStore is trying to do this, for some odd reason, so you should report it to Apple on iPad feedback. Describe how you updated iPadOS and triggered these events. As I said, I also have a dead app, but it only gives a message when I try to run it.
One other thing you could try is to find the app in iPad Storage, and delete it there. That mechanism is somehow lower-level than the normal "shaking" pop-up menu, and possibly the Delete option in this AppStore message as well.
I just reinstalled and then deleted via iPad Storage. Stay tune. Thanks for all the suggestions Uncle Dave!
maybe this setting(s) are on in your preferences? Might be worth a shot to check:
Though I don't use Nanologue that often if at all
I did have it on both of my iPads.
It works as expected on iOS 13.4 however on 14.7.1
it does come up with the "keep/delete" dialogue
and doesn't permit itself to instantiated.
I deleted it and tried a reinstall and it's doesn't change
from the "keep/delete" dialogue either so
I will presume that from 14.7.1 onwards it won't work
until or even if Steinberg decides to update it's certificates
or eventually remove it from the AppStore itself.

@LFS , thanks Lars. Nanologue has always been a favourite. Simple 1 screen interface, and awesome sound.
AUv3 would be the cherry on the pie , but happy it’s been kept alive for now.
Thanks
