Is it possible to copy tracks (or parts of projects) between different projects in Cubasis?

Or does somebody know of a workaround if it is not possible?
I want to use the verse of one project in another, but do not know where to begin..

  • Yes, I’m afraid that’s it. I was hoping to copy a track with AU’s, automation, etc..

  • If you have a track with mid sequences, automation etc you can select mix down and export as midi, select separate tracks then you can open the midi clip in another track. Save the AU settings as a preset in that app then open it in the new project on the imported midi track

I haven’t done this but seems the closest to what you are asking ?

Good idea, but would need to be done to each and any AU and it would not save the automation on the track.

This would be a very valid Feature Request to @LFS (this was the right contact?)

Features to copy/paste track settings across projects and also export tracks as templates already requested in my 150+ bugs list -

    😅😅😅

    Good luck!

If they only would hear their customers.... but sadly...

A couple of feature requests were already implemented in v3 like persist MIDI editor and automation editor zoom factor, track height/width zoom controls, persist track height settings, side chain, etc.

Any PM would prioritize items in this order -

    1) Resolve bugs in v3
    2) apply bug fixes to v2.
    3) persistence settings in v3 and v2
    4) work on enhancements.

So let’s give them some time.

The persistence settings will alone give the app a big UX boost and bang.

And there are many others like Link, MIDI learn, tempo tracks - everything goes by priority.

  • Thanks for your info..

  • In Zenbeats you can save any track as a track template.

    Hi @janpieter,

There are several options available in Cubasis:

    • Audio and MIDI events can be copied/pasted between projects
    • Projects can be duplicated, if this makes sense as a starting point
    • It is also possible to create stems via the "create seperate files for tracks" mixdown option
    • Audio events which are opened in the audio editor can be saved as separate files to the MediaBay

Please choose the option which works best for you...

    Best,
    Lars

The main problem seem to be automations on a track.

Can those be transported by one of the above methods?

    @tja @janpieter Yes, including automation...

  • @tja the last 2 Cubasis feature updates 3.2 and 3.3 have filled in many gaps in functionality, it does depend on the importance of particular features for your own use of course, but I’m absolutely expecting these feature drops to continue on roughly 6 month intervals.

A little proposal from my side. I think it would be great to implement an import function similar to AUM. So that you can import an existing project and then a dialog opens up to select the tracks to import. But the copy/paste function is also good.
