Who is getting a Modwave?

It looks delicious. There must’ve been some kind of mmm-bop-go or whatever it’s called when journalists and reviewers can’t tell anyone what they’re about to say until a certain date. Today seems to be the day (7/7/21 – or for all you Americans that do your dates backwards, that’ll be 7/7/21) for all the reviews to spill out all over youtube.

I can’t just rush out and get one. For one thing, it takes a few months for the price to sink down to below launch price. For another thing, I’ve only just taken delivery of an OpSix a few days ago (now that its price had sunk down to way below launch price, and thanks to a discount code on eBay from a particular music shop).

But… who’s getting a Modwave?

Comments

  • If I dont need a faderfox pc12, then maybe. Would still be ok with ipads.

  • Electribe Wave will do for now :D
Seriously though, good to finally get some more demos and the manual.
Gonna check it all out now.

  • Think I need to check Drambo waves again. Its obviously a synthesis that could be worked into any track but think synths that add timbres are nicer. So maybe id need the ios version. Dont know though. The scrolling of waveform might be a quicker way of getting diverse sounds, live.

Obviously you would buy vs another ipad mini 5 just for shoom via a line input but I dunno. I can still use an ios version. Will check synthmaster 2 or other apps.

Actually yes, that’d be worth watching the horizon for - there’ll prob be a rush to emulate the Modwave in things like Drambo ~ desktop equivs, etc. It really is all about the modulation, it seems.

The existing wavy tabley apps on iOS are good, but they’re completely dwarfed by a real Modwave as things stand today (because, modulation), but hey, tomorrow’s Drambo extravaganzas might change that.

(That reminds me, I just tried Addictive Pro and all I get is silence! How long has that feature been there?)

Not sure mate. Synth looks good though.

  • If Korg would send one over to me, I’d be happy to create a bank for it (so long as I can keep it afterwards) 😋🤣

I'm considering an Opsix as well, mainly because of the inviting user interface.
Not interested in the Modwave, Drambo more than fills this gap.

  • Have definitely been giving it some consideration.

  • It's 2 instances of Serum stacked in a cool retro case.

If it didn't have keys, I'd be down. In fact, I'd love to stack Korg latest synths in a rack but they won't let me.

Yeah, I also want to get the Opsix. The different operator modes sold me on it back when it was just a prototype at Namm 2020. Never seen anything quite like the ring mod operators.

Just had a quick look at the list of wavetables in modwave (page 6).
It includes all the wavetables from Electribe Wave and its 2 iAPS.

  • How is it possible for you to post in Aeroplane mode. What IOS you on?

  • I want the Modwave and the Opsix. I have a Hydrasynth and a Digitone which obviously covers a lot of that digital landscape kinda stuff, but different workflows and sound is always inspiring. I’ll say this though, I’d MUCH rather these synths had been 49 (Korg) slimkeys then 37 full-size keys.

  • The opsix is a real winner. If it is any indication the Modwave will be awesome.

  • Jexus loves the Opsix. His review pulls no punches when it comes to complaints but overall he loves the thing, and his YT vids on it are killer.

Loopop set a new PR for longest vid yet

  • Making a beat, plus doing my ambient apps sounded bad but I were tired. It sounds good for ambient though. Shoom, id700. Ripplemaker. Mononoke all with screens. Skiiid will be better sampled and triggered euclidean. Still unsure about another ipad because of the lameness. Id probably buy an opsix module though instead. More than an ocoast. I think the dark green just makes me think its an id700. These colours suit fm synths?

  • Well, I'm already posting on the Drambo forum about whether we can get the Kaoss Physics as a new module in Drambo!
