  • Synthmaster 2
    Synthmaster One
    Korg Oddysei
    Korg iM1
    Zeeon/Sunrizer

But, almost impossible to choose just five…

But, if I had to just choose one, Synthmaster 2 for iPad is my definite no1! Such an incredible synth!!

  • I need to get synthmaster 2.

Choosing 5 is next to impossible but out of the ones I currently own, in no particular order, and subject to change.

    OB-XD
    Tal-U-NoLX
    Electric
    Model 15
    Mela 2/Bleass Alpha

    Honorable Mentions
    Continua

  • @ErrkaPetti Great choices. I haven’t yet got Synthmaster 2…I’m still not even scratched the surface of Synthmaster One.
ODYSSEi, iM1 are awesome synths. I really like how I can use them in Gadget 2, although I do wish I could use them as AUv3.
Recently got Zeonn, and had Sunrizer a while ago. I might revisit them soon enough, but for now, gotta master Synthmaster One and Drambo, haha.

@Poppadocrock Excellent choices. The TAL-UNO synth has been on my radar. It’ll probably be a specialist synth for me but I keep getting tempted to visit the app page and click the buy button. Model 15 is incredible. I really like the manual, design, and how I can use it with a typing keyboard.

@anickt Factory, Obsidian, Chompler. Nice choices. Got them as well. I think Factory was my first app purchase on iOS, after Korg Gadget. I haven't yet tried the other two. I do like Bleass's effects, and I'm a fan of Synthmaster One. Ended up being busy to test Synthmaster 2.

@muzka Another mention for Synthmaster 2? Wow, @kv331audio_bulent must have nailed this release. Like the Animoog. I picked it up recently on the Moog giveaway (although I had the other Moog apps - and used Animoog for iPhone). Thanks for the reminder to load it up.

Okay, had to load up Continua. Okay, this is really cool. Wow. How did I miss this?

@0tolerance4silence Always. Everyone keeps stepping up their synth game.

@ecstaticax Great selections. Except for TAL-UNO, I believe I have all. 2/5 of them on my list, haha.
@klownshed Lorrentz, iSEM, Ruismaker are interesting synths. Great choices. Model D, and Unique are synths that live on my iPhone very well.

@sigma79 Awesome choices. Actually haven't tried most of them before. Poison 202 was the only one I picked up.

@klattgalvin Yeah, I refer to the other 3 when I need creative sounds. I really need to sort through DRC. There's a ton of patches there, and I haven't even had the chance to go through all of them and pick my favorites. I tend to go through presets, find my favorites, and reverse engineer them to see how they were made.

@DukeWonder Yeah, Audiokit nailed it with Bass 808. Interesting choice to make it limited edition, but hey. Looks like Langrange, and Bleass Alpha are the two I haven't tried.

  • AUv3 synths...

Drambo. It really does go deeper than even Synthmaster 2. 🤷‍♂️

Honourable mentions - Korg Module and Beathawk.

@seonnthaproducer, you really need to get the Tal-U-No-LX synth. No matter how many new synths I buy, I find myself going back to it again and again. It’s just an outstanding sounding bit of work.

+1 Probably one of the best synth ever.

In my top-5 I really should have had Obsidian too, but, it’s not stand alone app, but, it’s one hell of a powerful synth!!!

Wish we could have Nanostudio v2 complete soon…

  • MiRack
    Esoteric Synth
    Model D
    Fundamental
    Mononoke

OK, little left field, but hey…

A friend of mine who knows nothing about synths just got his first midi keyboard and asked what synth he should get. He’s on desktop so he has even more great choices, but the first and only link I directed him to was the Tal Uno. Perfect intro synth, and $60 ain’t bad for desktop.

You won’t regret it. It’s a solid synth.

Zeeon is great. It's oscillators and filters have a special character and if you take advantage of the modulation mapping, it can do some nifty FM of the clangorous ilk.

  • For me it’s
SynthMaster 2 - most komplex and easiest for sound design
    Zeeon - an analog dream
Tal- Uno just the Perfect Juno Sound
Moog Model D - just that Perfect model d sound (good for bass)
Pure synth platinum for everything but synth sounds

And as a bonus the wonderful syntronik with all those analog samples

Love the sounds possible with Zeeon, but more than once it has failed to properly load in GarageBand opening a file and when rendering the final audio file for export. I usually have to replace it with TAL-U-NO-LX or Moog Model 15.

I wonder if this is a GB particular issue. For me Tal-U-Uno is a lovely synth but doesn't have quite the range of character of Zeeon (which to me is in a special class with OdysseI and all the Moog's in terms of character). Just my taste.

Like I say, I love the sound, but if it’s impractical for production I cannot use it.

  • @childofthecorndog Great stuff. I was actually curious as to what inspired your name. It’s so catchy.

@Jusch1995 I got Syntronik (the base version) and haven’t dived super deep into it. Wow, this thread is making me realize a lot of real gems.

@jwmmakerofmusic I may honestly go the Drambo route. I’m finding it’s increasingly useful each use, although I still haven’t made a project with it yet, haha. It’s like a giant lego set.

@bygjohn Hey, left field or no, those are great sound design choices.

@dendy Seriously, great job on those Obsidian patches. I may have to check interzone for MiRack. @bygjohn Have you checked it out?

Lol. Drambo really is like a giant lego set. I absolutely love the stuffings out of it. Hopefully @giku_beepstreet will have smooth automation between p-locks (or automation tracks or something) someday so I can produce anything I want in it - from Ambient to Minimal Electro and other more experimental genres. :) I love slowly evolving automation that can go far longer than 10 seconds. I love producing complex drones for Ambient. It's my jam lately.

Now, if you said any iOS Synth (not strictly AUv3), and top 10, I'd be remiss to not include a few of the Gadget-compatible synths as well as a couple of synths within Gadget itself. Korg Module would still end up as one of the synths on my list. Drambo, Obsidian, and Beathawk would be the only non-Gadget synths on the list. The other 6 would be debatable depending on the track I'm producing in the moment.

  • @dendy Seriously, great job on those Obsidian patches. I may have to check interzone for MiRack. @bygjohn Have you checked it out?

No, I’ve not tried Interzone yet - it’s now on my to-do list!
