Yeah. I'm really liking it so far.

I read somewhere on Ipad Musican group, that ipad users would like Reason, so I purchased it and don't regret. However, I will not jump into subscription. It is definitely for new users

  • I just bought the full Reason 11 a couple of weeks ago, I’m hoping it won’t be too much to upgrade to version 12 when it comes out

Usually around $100 or so. I'll wait until September to decide if I want to upgrade, when this comes out for non-subscribers.

I have 11 studio. Or whatever it was called. They don’t sell studio (or whatever it was called) now so I am waiting to see what happens with the extras it came with.

I’m hoping the extra devices will remain ‘purchased’ and continue to be upgradable without a subscription.

But I like to buy the upgrade license. I’m not interested in all the extra content… especially as I’m yet to scratch the surface of what I already have! There are rack devices I’ve never even tried yet.

I do need a subscription to more time though.

  • The sub isn't bad if you're exclusively using Reason as a DAW. I think it's a much harder sell if you're only looking to host it elsewhere. I think a year long subscription up front costs 200usd, so it's more than the upgrade only option of like 120 bones, but you get all their "first party" rack extensions, all new versions and all the extra sound mumbo jumbo.

I'm back and forth on the wagon with it, have yet to actually pull the trigger though because I still have very capable tools on the iPhone/iPad I ain't using lol, so I'm worried it's just the "thing I need to actually get shit done" :D

People can still buy Reason 11 outright if they prefer not to use a subscription, If you scroll to the bottom of their website and click on Reason it’ll take you to a link to buy it outright. I’m guessing they prefer people to subscribe and that’s why they kinda buried at the bottom 🤷🏽‍♂️

Usually it’s $129, but anyone who has bought R11 after May 1st will get a free upgrade to R12

From the specs it looks like you don't get all Reason Synths in the "Full" package, only if you subscribe.
That broke the deal for me.
$1/month for three months sounds good though.

Does anyone know how well V12 works on a 12" touch screen?

Reason 11 Suite was the full package, but it quickly got discontinued by the new owners along with Reason Intro. Some shops are still selling it, but nobody knows what will happen to its included extra instruments when R12 is released.

  • By the way, looks like this offer (3 months for $3) is valid for 3 days only

Is it? You can try both Logic Pro and Ableton Live free for 3 months. But Reason Studios, they give you only 7 days to demo the DAW. I mean wtf, how is 7 days enough?

And now they want us to pay for a 3 month unlimited demo that others are offering for free? Only 3 bucks but it’s not about the money

Suite was/is a bundle of rack extension licenses, which don't get taken away.

I love Reason, but I don't like their corporate bosses.

    Good to know, thanks.
So, if I buy Reason Suite now, I get a free upgrade to v12 and also get to keep all extra instruments. Not bad. But Algoritm and Friktion are not included. I think I’ll wait until v12 is released

In a physical box? OK cool. I think it's worth buying if you want the extra rack extensions but don't want to subscribe. But yeah, it would appear that you'll need a Reason+ sub to get anything new they release that's not part of the main "Reason" bundle going forwards.

I can live without Algoritm and Friktion. I don't want to subscribe. I often skip updates with Reason until something makes it worthwhile (like being able to use the Rack as a plugin within my DAW of choice -- I always hated ReWiring).

  • @Strizbiz yeah, I think you qualify for free upgrade to 12. I had no idea they discontinued suite. They made it sound like nothing would change with the subscription. Hmmm…that move doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
