Rapid Tab 1.0 -- pitch-to-midi-to-tab open beta update
Folks -- another update to the open beta for my tab editing/creating app. Grab it and give it a go if guitar or bass is your thing.

The app does pitch-to-MIDI, to convert single notes from your instrument into tablature. In this update, I've turned on access to instrument tunings (change the number of strings, do your drop-D/DADGAD stuff), and I think I nailed a bug that caused a crash. There's a bunch of tab editing features, and you can export the notes as either MIDI or MusicXML files (which GuitarPro can load in).
With any pitch-to-MIDI approach, there's a little bit of latency that screws up anything fast and rhythmic, and the lower latency, the higher chance of pitch detection getting something wrong. We're side-stepping this -- record the notes you want into tab while playing slow and clean, and then fix any glitches with the tab editor. Once you've got things the way you want, you can trigger the notes "live" by tapping on an on-screen button, which will play back the notes from the tab in player piano fashion. Record the outgoing MIDI into your DAW, and you've got an accurately timed and note-perfect take (yes, it's cheating, but with people use autotune on vocals, so I don't don't feel too bad about it!).
There are still a few graphic cleanups, particularly for the iPhone, but it's getting close to being done. The first 90% takes 90% of the development time. The last 10% takes the other 90% of the development time.

Tried it with my uke but couldn’t make head nor tail of it. Buttons didn’t seem to do much in the tab screen. No idea what middle screen is for. And the paragraph of help text didn’t tell me much.
Maybe it doesn’t work with ukulele, which is fine if it is for guitar only, hence the 6 strings
