Is Sensual Sax still functional?

Like the title says, I’m wondering if Sensual Sax is still functional before purchasing. Some of the most recent reviews in the App Store insinuate the app may have been abandoned and is no longer working correctly inside a daw. I primarily use BeatMaker 3 and AUM, so if anyone has the app and can confirm functionality in those hosts, it would be much appreciated.

Comments

  • Just tried it in AUM, worked fine here (iPad Pro 2017, iPadOS 14.6)

  • Works fine here too.

    iPad Pro 2021
    iPadOS 14.6

  • Fantastic, much appreciated.

  • I came here expecting a sensual saxophone performance. I guess I'll just need to provide it myself.

Way to toot your own horn...

LOL. Sacrificing ones freedom for a sax solo…

But seriously, love the sounds I get out of this app playing it live or recording it as an IAA, but a pre-recorded MIDI performance as an AUv3 never loads properly into GarageBand. It defaults to a generic sounding staccato until I double tap on the track to open the app. This makes rendering a MIDI performance impossible for song export. I just assumed the developer never bothered to correctly implement state saving or they’ve abandoned committing any time to fixing obvious flaws.

That’s unfortunate. So even if you open the AU and change to the correct sound, attempting to export defaults back to the staccato sound? Guess the workaround is to bounce the entire MIDI track to audio once complete.

Yes, that’s correct. Export will only result in a terrible sounding staccato version of the MIDI performance, so if I really want to use this particular sax sound it must be recorded as an audio track. It is more hassle than it’s worth most times, but if I don’t need the flexibility of MIDI, I’ll just lay down a track to juice up the overall sound of the song. It still sounds more naturalistic than the SWAM Sax and the iFretless Sax.

Man, I guess I’m just the right amount tipsy. I found this so hilarious. So playfully disruptive but not obnoxious, just having a good time. I did something similar once with an acoustic guitar and John Mellancamp’s “Jack and Diane”, but the local cops shut you down real quick when you’re a teenage kid. Good times

  • I don't know what I was thinking.. I saw this thread and the words "Sensual Sax" along with the link to the app store and I insta-purchased it lol...

Oh well, it was only $4.99!

There's really nothing better (for Saxophone) than our trusty GeoSWAM Tenor Sax!
