Warning about iOS 15 beta 4 (Seems fixed in beta 5)

The latest beta for iOS and iPadOS causes hosts to crash whenever an AU is removed or changed. It happens in every host I've tested in. Be careful with updating if you need things to work.

I've filed a bug report with Apple and suggest that anyone else that sees the bug does too. It's easy to reproduce so they should be able to isolate it before the next beta if they get enough reports.

  • As reported in the beta 3 topic, I also have filed a bug report. The more, the better.

Yeah, as many reports as possible! If this one makes it to production somehow, iOS 15 will be unusable for audio. Beta 3 was looking so good too.

We still have some betas to go before release, they will fix it. For the rest I'm pretty happy with the beta 4.

  • Today I too stumbled into this/these bug/s. Will make a report.

  • I don’t know how you beta test iOS and try to do music stuff. So risky.

  • How are the new emojis?

There's no way I would try to gig with a beta OS. For my use case though, it's more important to me to know what problems are coming so I can fix them before Apple releases the OS (if I can).

I've got to say though that the iOS 15 betas have been really good up until this bug. 15 is looking like it's going to be a good OS.

    …this I can appreciate.

  • I've installed the latest beta just now and initial testing indicates that the exploding DAW issue has been solved. I can now delete and insert AU's with no issues.

Do we have confirmation that the DAW/host crashes are not an issue on the non-beta release of iPadOS 15? I had to roll back to 14.8 to resume regular use of AUM. I’m still on 14 but might be time to hit 15 — if it’s stable.

I'm was on the release candidate build of 15 and there were no major issues that I saw. The RC version should have been the same as the final release.

OK...I guess I'll take the leap and see what happens!
