  • On second thought I decided to hold off on purchasing another iPad until the next model cycle. Hopefully the 11” gets the nicer display that the 12” has now by then. I’m pretty jealous of that on my wife’s new iPad Pro, it’s noticeably better looking side by side.

In the meantime I just ordered a new 2TB T7 SSD and will give editing off the external drive a go in LumaFusion for awhile. Thankfully the latest update to that app allows this now, good timing for me!

I’m unfortunately holding off for now, however I’m very dissatisfied with the current crop of options for hubs and adapters for these new iPad Pros, especially since the source of all the problems is the lack of a 1/8” audio jack. For this reason alone, I remain happy with my current iPad Pro.

I just don’t wan’t to cough up almost an extra $200cad for a pencil2 when the pencil 1 works fine for me. 1368$+ for an air/pro 256gb with Pencil2 or 700$ for a base model (A13 in the fall?) 128gb and I get to use all my old cables and audio interface etc. Its not like my fav apps will likely be supporting multicore anytime soon/ever. Yah extra storage would be nice but eh, managing files still feels horrible.

iPadOS 15 is just around the corner, so there are improvements for file management coming soon.

Cool, that does look nice. Hopefully when moving files from one folder to another it will give you the ‘replace’ option instead of auto incrementing the file. Currently it gives the ‘replace’ option when copying but not moving. Inconsistencies like this are annoying.

  • That progress indicator when copying files will be soooo welcome here.

I struggle at 32 gb, 64 works fine and 128 is more than enough. Doesn’t scrolling between all those apps become tedious fast for you?

I’m struggling with 128, lol, but I’m a definite appaholic

I went for 256 but wondered if I could have got away with 128. I’ve just tipped over that limit so the answer is no  I have installed everything I own though so could reduce this number quite a bit by using the mindset I had when I only had the 32GB. The 27G of Pure Synth Platinum used to live on a USB drive, for example.

  • I have 256gb on my 2017 10.5 pro. Still holding out well today. But I don’t keep a lot of videos or photos on my iPad, only music stuff.
I think that’s a pretty good sweet spot the 256. You get enough to not worry, but you still have to monitor space a little bit later if you start buying all the monster sized apps. I haven’t had to offload anything yet myself.
