Ampkit on the bus

  • I thought I'd add this in here as it's a good place. I don't run this site or anything but it is really awesome for getting and sharing Ampkit presets. I think it'd be great if we add a bunch of audiobus related presets to it. Check it out. If you like Ampkit, it's worth it. :-)

  • Had no idea APC was out there.
Thank you very much for info Ryan.

  • Thanks for the link @Ryan. Going to check out several of those presets.

  • I have a question relating to in app purchases for Ampkit (or other apps) maybe the answer depends on each app.
If I buy extra amps and effects on one device do I have to pay again to get those on another device? I've googled but can't find a clear answer. When I've looked into this on other apps, it often acts like I'm going to be charged again so I usually decline because I don't want pay twice.

    Thanks for your help!

  • @yowza As far as Ampkit is concerned my experience is you buy it once and it is available on all your devices. I originally purchased Ampkit and all the in app purchases (yes gear acquisition syndrome has followed me to the digital world:)) on my iPhone and when I recently got an iPad everyhing was there waiting to download without buying again. However The presets were not there. Hope this helps.

  • @yowza @Tele_marketer Correct on all fronts - once you buy a piece of gear, it's yours on all other devices - iPhone, iPod or iPad.

One word of advice, you will see "AmpKit" (free) and "AmpKit+" (paid) in the app store. There is no difference between those two apps, save the pre-installed gear. If you buy anything in one or the other, stick with that version from there on out.

  • IAPs are tied to your iTunes account, like apps. As long as you use the same account on both devices you should be fine with all of your apps and IAPs.

  • @commonstookie @funjunkie27 No probs. I have been trying to get the guy who made it, Damien, to make it easier to navigate. Right now you can't search for anything. It would be much better if you could search or if it could be arranged by Artist, genre, equipment, etc.. If you like the site and agree maybe send him a message. :-)

Also most of the presets in red highlighted as featured are official Ampkit presets that aren't included in the app. I think they are all on this page. http://mysharekit.com/user_setups.asp?curUserID=1

Thanks! I don't have Ampkit yet but this is good to know.
I had to buy the iaps again for Animoog on iPad even though I had already bought them for my phone. Granted not a lot of money involved but annoying nonetheless and this made me leery to do it again especially when more money wiill be involved with amps and effects.
I gather this is because Moog considers them to be two different apps. Thankfully got both Animoog apps on sale.

    Thanks again!

  • @Ryan
Any idea how to get to the second and third page of the AmpkIt user id? Tapping the 2 takes you to the second page of the general index not the Ampkit index.

  • @TedBPhx You are right. Nope I don't know why that doesn't work. I think most of them are on the last few pages of the main index though. That's a shame. The site has such great potentiel but with little problems like this it is a bit frustrating for sure.

@yowza, good point - those are different apps. I should have added 'as long as the app is universal'.

  • Figured it out. Just add an ampersand curPage=2 or 3 after the userid. No spaces.

  • I think I mentioned here earlier that my POD XT died recently after 10 years of faithful and fulfilling service. It was my GOTO device for jamming and recording. I have a few other preamps/amps/combos that are nice for jamming out loud but I rarely mic them for recording purposes.

Since then I bought another guitar amp/effects/AB compatible app with all of the available IAPs (except bass guitar) and have been very impressed. Now that Ampkit has jumped on the bus, I picked up the free version to see how well it compared to the competition. Not to vocalize comparisons in order to stay nuetral, I found Ampkit to sound really nice and would like to explore it further.

I searched the interweb for an official forum to ask specific questions but the closest I found was perhaps a WasteLook page in which I have no desire to sign up and be a part of. Twatter either, as far as that goes (I'm sure they are both beneficial to someone other than myself). Shallow of me, perhaps. I'm not very sociable after people broke into my home in the city trying to steal my guitars and POD while I was asleep upstairs, chasing them out with a cocked handgun (and since then moving to the middle of nowhere).

Anyhoo (sorry for TMI), I must admit that I very much like the free version of Ampkit. Great job. I noticed that there are several IAP upgrades and was wondering if it might be possible to include a simple "pro" IAP to include all of the amps, pedals, and microphones in a single purchase. The reason I ask this is because I don't want to purchase pieces and realize that some of the bundles overlap each other.

This may be a moot point as you have already thought this out in advance and prevent duplication but thought I would ask.

Thanks for your commitment to iOS and any further development that may follow.

  • @Keebo
Yeah I wish there wasn't as much overlap between the various iap upgrade bundles for Ampkit too. I think this is partly what turned me away from purchasing it in the pre Audiobus days, too confusing. For those of you that already have Ampkit which bundles, amps, effects etc are essential?

  • edited March 2013

We continue to look at that. There is some overlap, but the "bundle" prices still save significantly over buying individual gear. Just in case, there is a back-stop in the app that will cut off any bundle purchase if it's not economical.

  • lol I didn't know that. I used a calculator when i was buying them to make sure it was still fair. :-)

  • I'm not getting an update notice via WiFi. I'll check back later.

I spent $123.00 on IAP the other night (thanks, Vodka) and really like the sounds.

Looking forward to when MIDI is implemented in order to change patches, volume, wah, etc. with my FCB1010.

  • @Keebo You got everything in one shot? That's 22 amps, 26 pedals, 8 mics (and I lost count of cabs a long time ago). Thanks much!

The 1.6.1 update fixed a few little bugs we found after the initial AB/Stereo update. Everything should be good across the board.

  • Yes, I couldn't help myself :-) .

My POD XT died not long ago after 10 years of excellent service so I decided to use my iPod/iPad with AmpKit and Jamup instead of buying another hardware unit. Plus I have a few tube/valve amps around.

One is an Atomic Reactor 112 which was designed specifically for amp modellers. I haven't fired it up yet with AmpKit or Jamup but hope to find time soon.

Thanks for a great sounding app.

  • ampkit rocks...love it
