First (iPad) Track: DanSeb - Way Down (Dance/House)

Hi all,

Long time hobbyist producer here - Caustic 3 on Android from 2012, then FL Studio since 2017. Feeling nostalgic for 'mobile music production', I bought an M1 iPad Pro on release this year and have loved being mobile again (and also got shamefully addicted to buying AUv3 plugins!)

This track is made using Cubasis 3, based around a chopped vocal sample made with EG Segments. I've used a combination of EG Pulse, FAC Drumkit and Digistix 2 for percussion (trying to establish my favourite). Synth sounds are via Magellan 2, Moog Model D, NLog Pro, PureSynthPlatinum, Korg iM1, Poison-202 & SynthMaster 2. Mastering is via FabFilter plugins

The power of the M1 iPad has blown me away - this is made with 27 tracks, 85 effect plugins and I've not even had to bounce down to audio before mastering, it's all just running live (and silently, unlike my laptop) with no hiccups whatsoever!

Hope you enjoy, and any comments welcome.

  • Wow! Fantastic piece! Really liked this!

You say it was all done in Cubasis3 eh? Glad to hear the M1 can handle all of those audio tracks and effects without any hiccups! I just got the latest M1 iPad Pro as well, and have been working on a few VS - Visual Synthesizer projects that have actually brought this M1 to its knees!

Glad to know that if I just produce some good old audio tracks, I can expect to have much more headroom.

I’m not too much into EDM stuff, but what you have here is really good!

Thanks very much for the comment Edward, glad you enjoyed! Just to clarify, there were only a couple of audio tracks within this project (where I'd bounced down to audio a reverse reverb vocal effect for example). Everything else was all MIDI-programmed synths and drum samples running live from the plugins - I kept expecting to bring the hardware to it's knees every time I added a new synth, but it just seemed to keep on going!

    Awesome! You’re very welcome!

I should try to get into Cubasis 3 (I own it, just don’t use it much). I guess I’ve been too preoccupied with my AUM and Drambo standalone projects, not to mention my fascination with VS lol

Thanks again for confirming that the M1 can in fact handle everything you throw at it in a traditional audio production.
