Pure data and iOS? Any way of running Lira 8!?

Hello! I saw that in theory you can run pure data patches on iOS and also that someone has made a free pure data version of Lyra 8, my question is… can I get this on my iPad somehow!?!? It would be so good.

  • There’s two: PDParty

    And MobMuPlat
    https://apps.apple.com/co/app/mobmuplat/id597679399?l=en

Neither are very straightforward to use, and the PD patches need to be adapted to work with the touchscreen. For Lyra8, there’s the glorious Mononoke

I’m awful with this sort of stuff, but I’ll give it a go!!
Mononoke is fantastic, but it’s not quite as ‘odd’ as lira 8.

  • No, don’t let Mononoke fool you. It’s a beast, much more powerful than the Lyra, it’s just that you need to work more to awaken its fury. Slap LunarLander at the end and you’ll have the delay/distortion stage in the Lyra; everything else is covered and then some more.

Hahaha well, there’s a challenge!! Ok I’m going in!!

    Yes, unleash the power!

But more seriously, I think exploring what Mononoke can do will be much more fun and rewarding than rewriting the PD patch to get something that’s nowhere near the app. Learning PD, on the other hand, is wholly rewarding by itself if that’s your thing. I’ve heard good things about Automatonism, a collection of PD patches making a complete modular system. https://www.automatonism.com/the-software

    Cool!
I've worked with MobMuPlat a few times. If LIRA builds upon PD-Vanilla then it should work without changing the PD patch itself. The main work will be to build a functional UI for it.
If I remember correctly, MMP now has a "native PD UI" mode, certainly worth trying!

Ah, first hurdle already, it runs in camomile.

The individual PD files do open in MobMuPlat but maybe they have to be consolidated to work together? Dunno...

I don't think that you need Camomile to run it inside MobMuPlat.

  • Yeah, isn’t Camomile just a VST wrapper?

It’s actually a very poor tea.

    Indeed, truly my least favourite

  • It opens but the gui is absent. Hmm

Mononoke is definitely a beast, great app just like Bram’s other stuff. I also have a Lyra-8 but it’s definitely in another league. With the tiniest turn of a knob you can go from sweet to mayhem or bump into a magnificent sweetspot. The BBD delay and distortion also add’s a lot of character. I still need to check out the Lira-8 though…

Pure Data support works currently only on the Windows and Mac versions of n-Track.

Thanks , did not know . Not that I was gonna get into that workflow though. If anything it shows that N-Track is a pretty serious DAW . The “suite version” contains 10 gig of sounds.. 400 instrument ta as well as many other goodies . $29.95 per year . I’m kinda digging it . Who knows ? Maybe eventually pure data will make it to iOS
