Guess the App? … and the answer is Seaquence!
As the recent post by @Svetlovska hinted at the weather in the north of the UK is rubbish today so nothing to do but knock up a quick quiz for you all.
Guess the app that was used to play this in one take.
FYI all sounds were provided by ThumbJam with a bit of reverb.
Inspired, hopefully obviously, by Arvo Part’s wonderful Fratres.

Lovely piece.
Aphelian???
I’m really liking the sounds.
Can you set up Thumbjam to function as a sound module?
Is it auv3?
and the weather is foul here in London, grim would be the other word.
Touchscaper? Love those ThumbJam sounds.
@Geotony, first time caller... long time listener. I'd like to play the game.
It seems like you used an app that can import sounds (Thumbjam is NOT AUv3 so the sounds had to be saved as recordings I think) and then use a sequencing feature of the
"one" app used for a one take performance. I wonder if that app also created the finished audio project?
Probably an app that is typically used as a "drum machine". Several of them shipped recently:
Hammerhead (but I didn't see any clues on how to load the sounds, so I hope it's this one so you can slip us some clues)
Digistix
I'll take my answer off line.
Many thanks for listening… all incorrect at the moment I am afraid…
Just to clarify , the mystery app is driving ThumbJam which is hosted in AUM and it is a simple one take AUM recording with a tiny bit of volume adjustment in AUM.
@iansainsbury , Touchscaper is a good guess, one of my favourites but I don’t think I could have done this track with it.
@Gravitas and @McD , ThumbJam is not AUv3 as you say but that does not stop it being used as a sound module… it is IAA and when you load it into AUM (in my case) you can choose one of 8 separate slots (1st screenshot) each of which can have a different instrument that you define within TJ (2nd screenshot). It works remarkably well and the sounds are as Ian says great…
Xeq2 could do this, no?
Externally? Sure. There seems to be about 6 tracks of MIDI given the Thumjam config.
Loaded into AUM I'd consider LK, or Atom 2.
OK, some clues. Old App, not even IAA, handles 16 channels of midi and does some things things amazingly well e.g. key changing and goes down to 1 bpm but is also frustratingly limited and hasn’t been given any love for yonks…
@GeoTony
Second guess….
One of the Bud sequencers?
So,.. Thumbjam can be used as an eight part multi-timbral sample playback module?
@Gravitas , not a Bud…
Not sure about the sample bit I.e. not something I have tried but I believe it does let you record / playback your own samples but yes TJ let’s you play up to 8 instruments / drum loops, each individually addressable and tweakable.
As the sounds are samples? then I describe as sample playback.
When actual synthesis is involved then I describe an instrument as a “synth”.
If it’s a combination of the two then it’s sample-synthesis and then next up is physical modelling.
I liked the sound of the cello on the intro or was it the low notes of a viola?
Thumbjam could be very useful for composing.
@GeoTony : firstly, lovely work! Secondly, my guess:Soundweaver?
Understood… it’s a Cello. the nice thing about the string instruments is that you can hear the bowing. Most of the other sounds are top notch as well.
Sorry @Svetlovska , no prizes on your way yet…
I have a piece that I wrote years ago which has live bowing.
Your intro reminded me of the piece so I listened back to it.
The cello bowing from TJ is quite convincing and it accepts midi in?
If you mean midi in to control the bowing… I don’t know! There are lots and lots of midi settings and controls in TJ but I tend to just use the default sounds. There is a comprehensive manual , just google ThumbJam Manual.
Thanks.
I will do.
@GeoTony
In answer to the question.
Yes, it does have midi in and it can be used
as an eight part multi-timbral sample player.
Différent drummer.

+1 I think @flo26 has nailed it. One of those apps I own and occasionally stare at before going back to NS2 or gadget.
Candy Crush
Always the correct answer.
I would throw a Quantum Sequencer in the room...
Thanks all for having a go… the answer is …. drum roll… Seaquence.
I let the critters out of their box once a year to have a play and then realise they should be locked up again😊
This app manages to be simultaneously…

As usual @LinearLineman your timing is exemplary.
