[EXP] Look Ma, NO DRUMS! 🥁 (Experiments with Automation in AUM using the MIDILFOs MIDIfx AU plugin)
While trying to sketch out a piece without drums tonight (per @LinearLineman ’s request - I took it as a challenge! 💪), I quickly fell into this rabbit hole of effects and MIDI CTRL Modulations.
This makes a nice bed for a cello, violin, or both parts.
Call it an “Experimental Work in Progress”. (an “ExWip”??)
Please let me know what you guys think! Your feedback goes a long way here!

Well, that’s refreshing! Love how you guide the listener thru with onscreen prompts. Never saw that before. Very good technique.👍👍👍
Thank you Mike! These are a lot of fun to make. Thanks for giving this experiment a spin!
This is great. I love it. Keeps me motivated and sane.
Mysterious.. unknown.. wandering.. searching.. (possible film scenarios)
Great vibe.. excellent sound choices.. 👍
Man, that’s a lot of midiLFOs! I liked the way you were morphing between the 2 sounds every 4 bars.. NO DRUMS? Are you mad man? 🤪 Great suggestion + well executed on your part..
Limitations are great for creativity.. self imposed or influenced from (un)controllable circumstances..
good description
I've been a follower of your examples for a while and one thing that intrigues me is how even though your music has a kind of elegant simplicity, your AUM layouts look very complex. It's great to see this detailed explanation.
Where do you find time with your 12 hour shifts?
Thank you Charlie!
Thanks! I love these kind of experimental pieces that just evolve and seem to take on a life of their own.
Thank you!
Oh, time? That’s easy, I just follow this instructional guide:
