Recording Cubasis Pads

Hhmmm, I want to record chords into Cubasis using the drum pads, but all I get is single notes. It's different with the assignable chord pads in the keyboard view. Isn't it possible or am I overseeing something. It doesn't work with the internal sounds nor with IAA instruments. Thanks for your help.

  • MIDI drum instruments are usually configured as single samples of different drums on different notes on one MIDI channel. The Drum pads probably conform to this and only capture one note value per pad.

  • Oh thank you @PaulB. So I guess I can only play the chords using the drum pads but there's no way inside Cubasis to record them?

What I mean is that each drum pad will play one MIDI note on event. You may well be able to record them, but single events equals single notes. Play three pads simultaneously, you can get a chord, but it's a bit naff doing it that way.

  • You're right! Appears to be a bug introduced in 1.8

  • This used to work.

  • Add a midi track. Pick the default piano. Press keys then pads. The chords sound and can be edited but only one note records.

  • Checked the non-updated version on my Ipad Mini and everything worked fine: Pads play chord sounds and the chords can be recorded. Updated here, too: Pads play chords but they can't be recorded, only one note is captured. So, seems to be a bug in the newest version. Correct me if I'm wrong...

In that case, sorry, I misunderstood the problem.

  • Yeah confirmed on ipad mini R too

  • Hello guys,

Unfortunately I have to inform you that this is a bug, our devs already have this and should be fixed:

    Best regards,

  • Great, thank you!

  • if the chords still work and it's actually transmitting multi-note midi, maybe you could send the midi out to something like MIDI Bridge and loop it back into a midi track?

    I don't own Cubasis so I'm just speculating. :)
