iMaschine -> Library - > iMaschine -> "sample pack folder name" (ie Quantum Collection etc).
Inside each "sample pack name"-folder you'll find 4 folders. The one named "samples" is the one you want to look in. All wavs will be organized into subfolders like Drums -> Claps/Kicks/Cymbals/Snares etc. So if you only want the drum kits, just copy the folder called Drums from within the sample pack you wanna grab the sounds from.
I like most IAPs. The drums that is. I dunno if there are any rock oriented kits really, few "jazzy" ones here and there, a lot of cool lo-fi beat oriented stuff (hip-hop, breakbeat, dub etc) obviously, and EDM, dance stuff. They're kinda spread out here and there, so I don't really keep track of the IAP names. I just figure, it's just a buck, and I'll get atleast 3-5 drumkits I'm most likely gonna like with each purchase, and keep buying them. Each IAP info should have info on how many drumkits, melodic kits and instruments there are. So listening to the demos and looking at how many different drumkits it contains should give you a good idea of what to expect.
@Tarekith, thanks for the review, I have been looking to purchase this hardware.
If you look at it as a sketch pad and have Maschine (the big brother) it's awesome.
I did a beat with cheesy samples, exported it into Maschine and loaded Massive on those note tracks.
Man... it turned out pretty dope!
For some serious editing it's still lame. If you want to pitch a sample on a pad you have absolutely no control over that slider. Double tap to reset doesn't work either...
I really put my hopes in iMPC Pro. Looks simple, clean, and powerful.
@ChrisG - Thanks, as always, for the help! I will definitely try that later. I'm a fan of accumulating whatever samples I can in .wav format. It's interesting that a lot of these raw audio files and SoundFont (.sf2) files were created and passed around in the late 90's, forgotten, and have new life again with new mobile technology.
I got real excited because I found a bunch of audiofiles that I thought I could gut out of iMaschine and save a bunch of space. Turns out they were the preview files for the soundpacks, and it didn't even save me that much space. Haha. Looks like a re-install may be in order.
@alexbuga - That was my thought too; iMPC Pro looks a lot like this, only with more features and iOS friendly.
wow just what i needed ....awesome update...and now on my ipad...im also waiting for impc pro.....rap tracks for days baby
Love the app and update. Bummer indeed it's not compatible with Audiobus yet as an alternative to iTunes sharing I simply use the headphone out of my iPad into my audio interface and straight into my DAW!
This is one go the things iConnectmidi is great for if it works for you. Straight out of your iPad into Your DAW with no hassles and the new mute function in iMaschine makes it easier to get each track out separately.
As others have said if you don't think of it as part of your iOS ecosystem but accept it for what it's marketed as it provides a great sounding App that is simple enough that you spend your time creating sound rather than getting bogged down in options.
it's pretty much the same for all the versions of maschine, the whole series should come with a disclaimer, I've never seen a drum sampler on any platform with so many caveats as the maschine drum samplers.

I don't think so. You can't seriously compare iMaschine to hardware Maschine on the desktop. Not sure what caveats you're talking about but most of the whining around iMaschine and Maschine has to do with assumptions about how it should be something else than what it actually is, like expecting Maschine to work just like traditional DAWs. Also, there are different type of "drum samplers" that caters to different types of workflows, including NI's own Battery, Studio Drummer, Drumlab, ...etc. Plus, Maschine stopped being just a "drum sampler" a long time ago. It's a full production groovebox/workstation and the hardware-based controller for all of Komplete.
@shortbus i must agree with you, Maschine stop being just a drum sampler a long time ago. Maschine is a full production workstation especially when you add Komplete to it. With version 2 of Maschine NI hit the hammer on the nail especially when you add Maschine Studio controller to it.I am using Maschine with the Mikro MK2 and i love it, my next purchase would be Maschine Studio.
iMaschine app was made to be a sketch pad for you ideas and then import in Maschine to finish your production.
yes its awesome
my post didn't compare imaschine to it's desktop counter part, what I said was that the whole series meaning iOS and desktop versions suffer from the same ratio of deficiencies. in other words compare imaschine to bm2, impc, fl mobile, etc... although there is some irony in that you could easily compare bm2 sequencer to the desktop version of maschines sequencer and bm2 would win.
