Vox Flow - 30 ambient and experimental presets for Toneboosters Flowtones
Some textural and atmospheric presets for Flowtones, a synth I've very much enjoyed using for sound design. You can download them for free on the Gumroad link below, and check to video to hear them in action.

Also for anyone who doesn't already have my preset packs for Lagrange and Factory, these can now also be found on Gumroad:

Very nice. Many thanks!
I've updated the presets so that now they appear in a custom bank (name Vox Flow):
Vox Flow on Gumroad
I think all of these synths have their own character and their own strengths and weaknesses. What makes Flowtones cool is primarily the effects, and then the formant filter, the unison mode and the XVCOs. It's also a very easy synth to program.
Synthmaster two is more versatile because it offers more varied types of synthesis (sample-based, wavetables, additive) but the preset import/export system isn't there yet so I can't share the presets I've created for it.
Lagrange is an excellent subtractive synth, with many oscillator types, and also different noise options which allow me to create all sorts of interesting textures, but it lacks a decent reverb which I think is a drawback for the kind of sounds I like to create.
Factory is awesome, very good for textures and modulations. Kronecker I don't know well enough to judge.
I'm just taking this opportunity to thank you for your previous presets,I really enjoy them, totally my style! They also make a good starting point to create something else!
Glad to hear it
@richardyot Always amazed by your work. Thanks for these! Truly appreciate it.
Thanks! I’ll hopefully be creating more presets in the coming months. I have some for Synthmaster 2 once they sort out the preset sharing.
Awesome. Thank you @richardyot
How exactly do you load the whole bank in, from inside the app?
Open the preset browser, tap the import button and then load the zip file. That should work.
Here is my video demo for the @richardyot TB FlowTones patch bank, hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks for that awesome demo. It’s wonderful to hear my presets being played so beautifully. 😍
Hey Richard.
I heard these on Doug’s demo this evening. Really great presets and very inspiring. Lovely ambient vibes as always.
I’d love to get them installed and look closer at them but I honestly don’t know what I’m doing with the link or how to use this “Gumroad” thingy.
Clicking on the link takes me to your “Gumroad” page. The only active button there is a green one that says’ “I want this!”. Clicking on it does nothing except what seems like a brief screen refresh. No sign of a downloaded file anywhere on the iPad. Can’t see anything else there that would indicate a download button.
I must be doing something wrong somewhere. Am I supposed to create a login account or something to access things on Gumroad? I don’t know what it is.
Sorry! Some hand-holding required here by someone who only understands and uses the Dropbox method for sharing files 😅😅
Cheers! 🕷🙏
@Spidericemidas you probably need to enter an amount in the price field - just enter zero that should work.
Creating an account is not compulsory.
And you might be wondering why I’m using Gumroad rather than Dropbox. I’m thinking of releasing some paid presets at some point, with an eye to giving affiliate links to the YouTubers so that they can make some well-deserved money (I would donate the vast majority of the proceeds). So this is a way of testing the waters.
Awesome. I wanted to confirm it was from inside the app. Thanks.
Do your thing man. Maybe do free teasers, with 5 or so then sell full packs with 20-40 patches for a nominal fee. Lol. I’m laughing because I used the word nominal, lol, that word cracks me up, mainly because o& how it used in big business.
That’s dope your going to help the YouTubers too. It will actually help both of you, wise decision.
@richardyot Superb man. Especially the pads, bases, and voices. Several are going into a track soon. Cheers.
Thanks! Glad you like them 😀
How do you import the files in flowtones ?
Download the zip file to somewhere your iPad Files App can see, open Flowtones, open the preset browser, tap "import" and locate the zip file.
👍
Unfortunately all other fields including the price amount field are greyed out and inactive. Been stabbing the screen everywhere but no reactions. The only thing that responds is the “I want this!” button, but all that does is kind of reload the screen and there is no file downloaded anywhere to the iPad.
I wonder if my iPad’s OS is not compatible with Gumroad or something silly like that? Very strange.
Oh well. That’s a pity. Was looking forward to checking out your great presets in more detail. Anyhoo, your idea for helping to support YouTubers sounds great and I hope you can get things up and running smoothly and successfully! 👍🙏
I think you just have to tap in the price field and enter a value (zero is fine), then you tap "I Want This".
I made a short video showing the process:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/nib7nqktd6j45l4/2021-09-01 12.35.55.mp4?dl=0
Nope sorry Richard. The price box is greyed out and unresponsive to the touch. Does not bring up keyboard to enter amount. The field is grey and dead. Interestingly I watched your video and noticed my screen does not look the same as yours when reaching the gumroad page. Your video seems to show an image of Flowtones above the gumroad options, mine does not. As I say, nothing works on the gumroad page for me. Greyed out dead price field. Cannot enter amount. The only button that works is the green “I want this” button which simply refreshes the page somehow but does not download anything. I’m still thinking maybe it’s an OS compatibility issue. Can’t think of anything else it could be. But I have absolutely no intention of updating my iPad to find out, otherwise I will lose functionality of certain key and needed apps in my collection. So if it’s an OS version issue, that’s the end of it for me with this method of sharing/downloading, unfortunately. Or maybe it’s some weird permissions thing? Idk. Stuck for ideas now.
Pity because the presets sounded really great in Doug’s demo and they’d also help me in my learning of Flowtones. Not to worry, mate. Will try to investigate further at my end to see what’s up with the gumroad functionality.
Is gumroad an app itself? I know nothing about it. Is there something that should be installed on the iPad first to access gumroad fully or something to allow downloads?
I'll PM you with a DropBox link
I imagine the issue is down to Safari, maybe there is something on the web page that isn't compatible with older browsers.
As for Gumroad, it's a sales platform, I use it to run my main business which is selling assets and training to 3D artists. It works pretty well, which is why I set up this second store for music-based stuff.
Well that worked instantly! Yes! 😁
Thank you very much for your time and patience and the Dropbox link. Much appreciated.
Very happy to get these new presets from you. Lovely ambient sounds and very inspiring me to dig into Flowtones myself and see what I can come up with.
Great work! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just using your Lagrange presets now, Richard. Love the “cheap pre amp” patch. You’ll be surprised what I did with it (I think). Thanks for all these.
@richardyot thank you Squire. Much appreciated.
Glad you got it.
Not to be pushy but any chance we might see a @Spidericemidas preset pack for Flowtones? Sorry to put you on the spot, I’ll understand either way.
Heck maybe an AB forum thread collection, it’s been awhile since one of those went down…
