Clanger’s Dream / Spider’s Lagrange

Turning my attention to Lagrange next. @Spidericemidas’ presets for this Iceworks synths are fabulous. I’ll be using more of them for this series. @richardyot also has a bank of great ones. I hope to be using those, too.

A Clanger’s Dream is Spider’s name for the prominent ARP patch. Also a Lagrange factory patch plus Tera Synth, Thumbjam banjo, a BeatHawk lead and Future Drummer. Many seem to think Lagrange is the most versatile/ comprehensive of the Iceworks many synths.

  • Very Clangery! The Banjo was a good choice to accent things. A jolly tune that gave me images of the Clangers dancing around merrily! 😁👍

@Spidericemidas lol, I never stopped to think there were Clangers!

They look like my avatar, Manson!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 The resemblance is uncanny! Love that Clangers pic. Goes perfectly with the music and the preset. Haha. 👍👍

  • Wonderful . Love the Clangers idea.

  • Is there a technique in Cubasis to nudge the drum track a bit? I know Logic Pro has a nudge feature... does any IOS Daw allow you to shift a track closer to the pocket? It's one of the things that I'd covet in a DAW if I had to do quality work daily.

(good track mike... very creative use of an arp preset). I'm glad you didn't find that jaw's harp to replace the banjo.

  • @McD, you can adjust to 1/64 in the grid. You might be able to set it to infinite variability, not sure. Yes, the banjo probably works better than the mouth harp. Did you, listen to the one of @OscarSouth’s band on that thread? Beautiful!

    I'll check it out.

EDIT: I checked. Nice video and audio track. It reminds me that the Jaw Harp is effectively a drone with the mouth cavity acting as a spectral filter to pull out overtones to the fundamental drone pitch. So, a good IOS Jaw Harp would use a mod wheel to allow the
"mouth function" and drone off a pitch that the MIDI note is activating. This sounds like a good Drambo request for @rs2000. He could make such a Drambo instrument pretty quickly and maybe even base it on a sampled Jaw Harp audio snippet.

But I bet that still wouldn't get @LinearLineman to put down his money to open the Drambo puzzle. But I'd love to hear what @rs2000 could do for this request.

I'll look into that. Would it also shift an audio by 1/64 increments? I'd record the Lumbeats drummer for example and try and lock down the groove better... famous studio groups (Steely Dan, the Bee Gees, any Quincy Jones project) would agonize over getting everything in the pocket.

  • @McD, i do sometimes adjust for that. Occasionally I will duplicate a drum track and offset one to the other slightly. Makes it more interesting (sometimes). Yes, it shifts audio by 64ths.
