OT: DIY air purifier

One of my colleagues at work made this for a room we both use. I thought it was pretty ingenious of her, given that our bosses totally dgaf about our safety:

  • Brilliant!

  • Nice! I might have to use that link to build one to deal with all the smoke from the forest fires. It's been a miserable summer with my suboptimal lungs this year.

While I believe this is great for indoors situations, and I also think it’s very important to limit spreading at the indoor workplace, meanwhile here in the Philippines the mayor of Cebu came up with the requirement that all public utility vehicle drivers and conductors need to wear a personal air purifier. It’s a necklace. In a tricycle, bus and jeepney. If you’ve ever been to Asia, you know these vehicles. These people make 300 to 500 pesos a day, and while these devices can be had for even just 500 pesos (around 10 dollars), most are 1500 pesos and up. That’s 3 days work for a device that I have a hard time making any difference in a situation where they are used 😕

    This device:

This is after they came up with the magical idea of motorbike shields.

Luckily there were only a few pour souls that fell in that trap… before it got cancelled.

Oh and to visit a mall, since March 2020, you have to wear a face shield on top of a face mask, but only in the malls. Oh and restaurants but only when you order. Oh, and people below 18 and above 65 are still not allowed in malls ( although the age limits have been varying, a bit, for the last one and a half year).

Sorry for the rant. I seriously do believe that indoor workplaces make for a large proportion of possible spreading, and I wish the government here would push for better ventilation instead of stupid useless devices.

She is a genius! Now I want her to release a tune here so we can all meet her.
