Best way to pad/attenuate super loud headphone output?
The headphone output on my Mackie 1202 VLZ4 is absurdly loud. I can't go above 8-9 o'clock with my Sony MDR 7506s.
That would be fine, but the L/R channels glitch out below 9 o'clock.
I want to pad the output. Is there some combo of resistors and capacitors I can wire into a jack adapter to drop the output, but keeping the exact same sound?
Perhaps with headphones, what's needed is a drop in impedance?
I could get a headphone amp and all that , but it's just another box to plug in.

How about a short headphone extension cable with in-line volume control for $6.

I didn't think of that! I'm so used to the inline remotes for iPhones, which don't attenuate the signal.
This would totally work.
