Kompresor by Shattered Glass Audio

https://apps.apple.com/app/id1572077067

Description:

Kompresor is a versatile and powerful, yet easy to use, compressor. With several compression algorithms under the hood, Kompresor is suitable for use on a wide variety of signals, on the mix bus, or for mastering.
For the most transparent compression, ideal for mastering, use AUTO envelope. Use PROGRAM envelope for an easy mix bus gluing effect. If you are after the classic style compression switch to feedback configuration. Select RMS detector for a smoother compression suitable for vocals, guitars, etc.
To help you fine tune compression parameters, enable DELTA feature to monitor only the difference between the uncompressed and compressed signal. Last but not least, Kompresor has an external side chain input for those times when you need to duck one signal based on another one.
Features:
– Three types of compression Attack/Release envelopes SIMPLE, AUTO, and PROGRAM.
– External sidechaining (only in hosts that support external sidechaining)
– Very fast attack time - 0.01ms
– Ratio up to 30:1
– Soft knee up to 50dB width
– Feedforward and feedback configuration
– Peak and RMS detectors
– Sidechain high pass filter
– Parallel processing
– Monitoring only the difference between the uncompressed and compressed signal
– Intelligent auto makeup gain
– 4x oversampling to avoid aliasing
– Plenty of factory presets to provide a starting point

Kompresor is primarily an AUv3 effect. To use Kompresor as a plug-in, you will need an AUv3 compatible host such as Garageband, AUM, etc.
Kompresor application is there to provide a user manual and a chance to use Kompresor with the microphone input.

  • You can see a demo of Kompresor in action here:

  • Another day, another compressor. It used to be like that with synths.

  • Yes. Seeing as all these compressors each seem to offer something different, would someone care to share what kinds of diverse use they've got out of their compressors? I've not used much compression beyond gentle dynamics management and bus colouring and so I've never gotten obsessive about them like I do with situations or reverbs, would be interesting to hear from people that have

I think that would make a great new thread! I would definitely jump in.

    “Compressor Talk”

  • @SGA,
How long will this be at intro price?

  • Phoenix wasn’t long, I missed it…

Very tempting to grab this. This compressor seems to offer a couple of functions I can't find in other universal compressors (as far as I'm aware, correct me if I'm wrong) such as auto envelope and soft knee. (Pro-C, if I recall correctly, offers these already? But, Pro-C is not universal.)

    At least two weeks.

We changed the price on the 14th day.

Don't know if you tried Kompresor during the public beta, but if you haven't you should still be able to get it here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/jJ485Qos

Auto envelope in Kompresor will give you a very transparent, low distortion, compression in most cases even when you push Kompresor hard.

  • I must have had me head in the sand or something, I did prevaricate too long I know - my loss :)

Oh screw it. I'm just gonna buy it outright since it's universal and can do unique things. :)

For those who would still like to try Kompresor before buying it, you should still be able to get the public beta version here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/jJ485Qos

  • Sounds great, I really like this one a lot. I hope you are finding iOS worthwhile cos I love having your effects available for my iPad/iPhone

Worthwhile depends on the view point. At SGA, we use our own plugins when creating/producing music. We would also like to be able to create and produce music on mobile devices. So, developing for iOS is worthwhile because it brings us closer to being able to create and produce music mostly on a mobile device.

  • We have released Kompresor for Windows and macOS, which can be used to demo Kompresor.
