Segments or Reslice and Beathawk

Hello all, new to the forums and just want to say I’ve found a lot of great info on here. I do have one question. Is it possible to use segments or reslice to chop audio samples and send it directly to the pads in beathawk using audiobus. Currently I am using reslice, saving every chop and then manually loading them to each pad in beathawk. Not terrible but time consuming. I was hoping there would be an easier way. I am new to using audiobus so I am not quite sure what i am doing lol. I’ve messed around with it but can’t seem to get something like this to work. In the end I would like to get everything into garageband ios to do the rest.

Hi - I just noticed your post. Sorry your first post went unanswered for so long.

Unfortunately BeatHawk doesn’t provide any way to do what you want. Audiobus can’t help because BeatHawk just doesn’t have any way to auto assign samples or to slice to pads.

If you’re open to other sequencers than BeatHawk, there are a few options. EG Pulse and Drambo with its Flexi Sampler come to mind. BeatMaker 3 also.

It depends a lot on what you’re used to and what you’re trying to accomplish. What do you like the best about BeatHawk?

EG Pulse synchronizes well with Segments. I believe it allows you to send from SEGments directly to EG Pulse.

Beathawk is great for a lot of reasons. I used to use it as my main sample pad until I found out about Audiolayer, Koala Sampler, and now Drambo.

Also haven't tested Digistix but MobileMusicPro did a great livestream where he demoed the app and showed how it's great at importing multiple samples

I enjoy the constant overdub on BeatHawk. Its simplicity to use as well. I like that it quantizes what I tap out on the pads pretty well too

Confirmed. You can send from Segments to EG Pulse. I just released a video showing this, at 9:09 in the video, and a lot more tips. You also have a chance to win EG Pulse as well.

Literally just saw this! Big Thanks!!! Purchased EG Pulse of the strength of your video. I have another question though as I am playing around with pulse. I’ve gone into the edit pad option, I have shot enabled but when I hit the same pad twice it plays the sample over itself overlapping. I’d like it start the playing the sample fresh instead.

Yea its wierd lol. Driving me nuts too haha

I think I may have figured it out. Where you can select shot, hold etc. there is a “retrig” button. When it is enabled I think it solves my problem

So I was initially excited about eg pluse but I am still not feeling it as much as beakhawk (I enjoy the workflow of BH more than EG). The problem is I really like segments and the “lazy chop” feature amongst other things. What I hate is it doesn’t export my chops unless its to EG Pulse. I saw this posted on another thread… Is this setup possible? And clearly that doesn’t look like audiobus making it all happen? I’d love to get my Segments chops to the pads in BH without it taking a bunch of unnecessary steps

@azarlengo781 The host in your pic is AUM, not Audiobus. You can likely do the same in Audiobus, but you cannot have 2 apps on screen, as shown in the pic. If that's a necessary step, then you'd need AUM.

Ok that’s what I figured. Thanks for the reply! Does anyone have any experience using the two in the manner I am looking for? I don’t want to spend 20.00 on AUM if it can’t support what I want to do.

Ok that’s what I figured. Thanks for the reply! Does anyone have any experience using the two in the manner I am looking for? I don’t want to spend 20.00 on AUM if it can’t support what I want to do.

As far as I'm aware of, AUM is currently the only app to work in window mode. I believe it's currently on sale, and it's seen as a must have app.

For me? Idk...I have the app but I hardly use it. I tend to use AUv3 apps in Drambo, Audiobus 3, and Garageband so I never really found a need for AUM.

I love Flexi, but feel like either I don’t fully get it or it just doesn’t do much beyond triggering regions and time-stretching (which it does awesomely). Like… is there a way to make the slices velocity sensitive?

Yes. It's cleverly disguised as a knob labeled Velocity.

Thanks for the responses. I think I’ll give AUM a go. I’m pretty hell bent on using BH
