Equivalent to Ableton‘s Spectral Resonator?

I wonder if there is something similar in iPad land

https://www.attackmagazine.com/technique/tutorials/understanding-ableton-live-11s-new-spectral-effects/

How to describe Spectral Resonator? Ableton says on its website, ‘(Spectral Resonator) breaks the spectrum of an incoming audio signal into partials, then stretches, shifts and blurs the result by a frequency or a note in subtle or radical ways’. That doesn’t tell us much, does it? Think of it as a morphing effect that can do a number of things: delays, reverbs, and vocoder-like pitch effects.

  • Maybe this? https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/spectrum-synthesizer-bundle/id1467384251
I believe there’s a resonator synth, and effect as well …for free.

  • Moebius Lab has several spectral effects as part of its suite: Runner is a spectral delay with feedback, Grip samples and holds spectral components of the incoming signal, based on their amplitude, Blur is a spectral reverb. The duration of the spectral components are prolonged (blurred), Degrader is a spectral decimator and Flutter is a sort of animated brickwall. Two spectral sinusoidal LFOs define the frequency boundaries. The spectral components which are inside or outside (depending on the Spectral Balance) these boundaries are suppressed.

If you are interested in Moebius Lab there’s no better place to start than @Gavinski’s tutorial series:

There also used to be an app called CS Spectral but it’s gone.

  • Moebius Lab looks very interesting- thank you. Unfortunately it’s only IAA… but maybe that’s not so bad as the effect is probably not used for multiple instruments of a project. Otherwise I would have to freeze the track. BTW, this tutorial that uses Ableton’s Spectral Resonator inspired me to replicate this effect on my iPad. In the beginning he demos the result.

There’s nothing similar on iOS AFAIK. The Spectral Resonator is a very particualr effect. There is a match for the effect on the desktop, and one that goes way beyond the Ableton Spectral Resonator and thats the clone of the 4MS Spectral Resonator eurorack module for Softube Modular. I know it’s not on iOS but it’s worth knowing about.

  • ^ Ohhh, the 4ms SMR as software! I wonder if there's anything similar in VCVRack or miRack?

As far as iOS, maybe you could fake it with Blue Mango Multiband into multiple instances of apeSoft Sparkle?

  • Multiband + Sparkle looks promising.

  • Just for info, as I’m no expert on this, in MiRack the Clouds module (AI Texture Synthesizer) has an alternative "Spectral Madness" mode. May not be what you’re looking for, though.

  • Ressurected…anything out there?

Looks super interesting, will dig in. Thx!

  • Haven’t used it but miRack has 2 modules called Espectro Spectral Madness:
