Actually just realized I neglected to mention iFretless Brass. Which sounds pretty good. And it’s AU.

For actual playing, I would pick the "guitar strings" of ifretless over geoshred any time. I didn't see that coming until I tried.

The advantages of GeoShred over ifretless are that you have aftertouch, the X-Y pad, and control over intonation.

Oh I don't doubt that for a minute - I guess my playing is not sophisticated enough to miss those things 🤷

Also, making a smooth, octave-long saxophone run with just guitar strings, without all that cheap-looking visual fireworks stuff that follows every touch in Geoshred is just satisfying. Again, very subjective, of course.

If you don’t like the GeoShred UI, then Velocity KB is also good. It has fewer layout options and no intonation options, but it does have velocity which GS lacks. I find myself using the y coordinate more than velocity though.

  • @SkillipEvolver , if you mean using the SWAM keyboard to play GeoShred then if you are using AUM, just load SWAM and GS in their own audio channels, assign SWAM to be the Midi Source of GS. In SWAM reduce the Main Volume to zero to switch off the SWAM sound. Bingo!.
Not sure how useable it is😊 Also SWAM appears to output on Channel 1 which doesn’t work for GeoFlute, Sax etc type instruments. Can’t see a way of changing that in SWAM but there are workarounds available. Apologies if got hold of the wrong end of stick!

    Thanks for the tip. 👍

I've come across a few that might suit your needs.
Cubasis's microsampler could work in a pinch, though it might not offer the exact quality you're after. I've heard mixed reviews about Chameleon's French horn, some find it a bit cheesy. Haven't tried Beathawk's Brass Ensembles myself, but it could be worth checking out.

AudioLayer has some good French horn and brass sounds in general.

  • Maybe also consider Xinematics and iSymphonic (the former is newer and has better tonality imhop, but the latter might just do well with some EQ and a good mix)

Got Velocity KB but unsure how to have it play Geoshred instruments. I have it set as the Geoshred input in AUM but not getting sound, just a yellow line over the top row of notes. Do I need to mess with midi channels like with my keyboard? TIA.

The Geo… e.g. Cello, TenorSax, Violin etc instruments need their input on channel 2 or above. Channel 1 will produce a warning message and no sound. @RonnieOmelettes
