Have You Heard The News

There is no backstory to this. It's just a very simple, slow and deliberate funk groove with some odd bits on top for a sense of direction. I was trying for something I could close my eyes and groove to. I've actually done this and my wife says I look ridiculous. The instrumentation is pretty standard so I won't take up bandwidth with a laundry list. There is one exception, however. The guy with the British accent is actually 4Pockets Lyricist.

  • I really like the vibe, groove of the track, it makes me move to that snare hit. I really like it. Is that you on guitar. The vocals at 2 mins in is lyricist?

  • @Poppadocrock - The guitar is actually just from some samples that I cut up, pitch shifted, and applied some delay to. The vocal you refer to is also just a sample that I had laying around. I think it was from Blocs Wave. Thanks for playing. Have a great day!

  • Sounds good and does hit the groove.

  • Funkalicious! Great jam Paul!

And we all know behind every great musician is a woman rolling her eyes 😂

    Lol.

@LinearLineman, @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr - Thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate it!

@Edward_Alexander - Ain't that the truth! This one was a little more in line with my "less is more" approach, as compared to that drunken Klingons trainwreck. But then again, trainwrecks are fun!

  • This is too cool! Excellent choice of samples. You really made it groove!

  • Love the groove!

  • @MadeofWax Thanks for compliment and the video production info. I'm looking into a few options. Looks like fun!

@Pxlhg, @PhilW Thank you very much for listening and commenting!

  • Excellent track, would have sworn it was a ‘real’ guitarist… very clever.

Wait a minute.. so you’re not playing those guitar riffs? Holy Shiite man that’s some good sample editing!

I mean are the samples themselves recordings of you playing those riffs, or are they someone else?

Yes, my current "Studio Setup" is just an iPad and headphones. I probably won't ever post a picture of it! The ultimate irony is that I started music lessons at the age of 8 and considered myself to be a dedicated musician for most of my life. Events beyond my control put an end to my music in 2004 and I walked away for 15 years. I discovered iPad music production a few years ago and decided to try again. My six year old niece suggested "Paulieworld" and I just went with that. My current "band" consists of MIDI sequencers, synths, and royalty-free samples that I cut up into little pieces. It will never match the experience of playing in a live band, but I find it satisfying. Thanks for listening. I very much appreciate your time and your comments!
