Remote Viewing

Unless your name is Mozart, you probably have a sizeable collection of unfinished projects. I decided to take five of these and put them into the crockpot. The end result is pretty much what you would expect, but it works... sort of. None of these sound like they belong in the same song, and they don't. They go from one random scene to another, sort of like remote viewing, hence the name. On the bright side, I now have 5 less projects named “Test_”.

I would like to send a shoutout to @jon_bell for his amazing Riffler app. I am too old to be doing metal music, but this app makes me feel like a kid again.

  • That is just insane!

Disney closed this attraction years ago, but if I were to tell someone about this song before playing it, I would describe is as Mr. Toad’s wild ride!

    Nice work!

Yah this is great! Makes me wanna give Riffler a whirl, never heard of it before.

  • @SNystrom - Thanks. That just made my day!

@AudioGus - It's definitely fun to play around with. It's like hiring Yngwie Malmsteen for 10 bucks!

  • Great stuff, enjoyed that. I’ve been ignoring Riffler, heavy metal is not really my cup of tea. I’d be interested in how much is straight out of the box Riffler and how much is you (if you see what I mean). Also how you did the drums. 🤘

  • @GeoTony - I'm with you on the heavy metal. Not really my cup of tea either. Now if it was Vodka... (just kidding).
Actually, it's all stock Riffler except for the beginning. I took a short clip and transposed it in half steps several times until it matched the opening chord of the metal part. Near the end I used some of the Riffler MIDI data to control an instance of Sunrizer in the background. Regarding the drums, I just layered a few samples with some of the stock percussion that comes with Cubasis, then piled on some effects. When it comes to hard rock drums, more is better. IMHO.

Thanks for taking time to listen!

  • That’s was fantastic! Riffler is a blast to nerd out with.

  • Cool track 👍 keep up the good work! 🎸🎧🚀

  • @Shiloh - Thank you, thank you! I especially like it because I'm a nerd! No kidding, I really am. I'm good at it.

@LinearLineman - Thanks for giving a listen. I think I've had enough metal for a while.

@gdog - Thanks dog! I really love doing this. My wife just rolls her eyes and says "That interesting, honey".

  • Every scene is wonderful.

It sounds organic and it flows
    really nicely between each scene.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • @Gravitas - I actually spent a fair amount of time on this, i.e. selecting parts, trying different arrangements, and attempting to create smooth transitions. I enjoyed every minute of it!

I very much appreciate that you noticed this and took a few moments to tell me. Thank you, sir!

    My pleasure.

I can hear the effort, care and choices, it was
obvious from the moment I heard the intro.
I shall be listening to this again and I’m looking
forward to hearing more of your finished pieces.

    You’re welcome.

    Oh yes they do!

This is fantastic Paul, the whole thing, but when you did the drum count in @2:46 right before going back into the other part, I was like “Bravo! bravo!!!” 👏

Ha! I’ve had similar responses from various family members - thankfully, & to quote Tom Sizemore from Heat, “For me, the action is the juice!”

Keep creating & have fun! 😺🎛🐬

  • @Edward_Alexander - Thanks so much Ed! I really appreciate that you and others are looking under the hood to see what's going on inside. It makes it worth the effort.

  • @gdog

    The action is the juice...

    action...

    juice...

    "Action Juice"

    Dog... that's a song!

    It's on the short list.

  • Kool! Looking forward! 👍✨🙏

  • Awesome stuff!

  • @jon_bell - Thanks Jonathon. I have really enjoyed Riffler. I doubt that Bluegrass Finger Picking or Jazz Guitar will be coming in the near future, but if they ever do, that would be great. Keep up the good work!

  • Brilliant!

  • Thanks. I'll add those suggestions to the to-do list!
