The Hidden Jems Thread
I like guitar. I like guitar pedals. I like JHS guitar pedals. I like Josh, the creator of JHS pedals and I also like his show on YouTube.
Recently, he was talking about guitar pedals that should have been famous. He don’t hesitate to say that some 40$ guitar pedals sounds as good as some « boutique » guitar pedal. He like to think by himself and not say something just because everybody say it. I like the fact that he is not snob and likes to call bullshit when he see it.
Some free synth sounds as good as 500$ synth. Some free IOS app sounds as good as expensive guitar pedals.
In a recent Jakob Haq video, I saw him using a couple of free plugins that sounds really good. He made a really nice track for the newest loopop video.
What are your hidden jems? It’s true that when something is free, we tend to think that is bad.
BTW, Vital is a really nice free synth for Windows, Mac and Linux.

I recommend all the apps from Neon Silicon

Anything from Blamsoft, but especially the filter, bit crusher, and Viking synth

All the freebies from Nembrini are great. With just their free pedals, Crunk amp, and free rack effects you can cover a pretty good range of guitar tones

Compared to VST plugins or hardware, IOS is already inexpensive. Granted, we appoholics can rack up a pretty good amount of money spent on all the shiny new toys developers keep making. It's always a good idea to keep an eye on @Poppadocrock's App sales and discussion thread. Unless you are easily tempted 😉.
@Montreal_Music and @MadeofWax , I have a Work in Progress (music, not an app) that compliments this thread nicely. Hoping to have it ready sometime next week. Excellent timing!
Deluxe Memory Man 550-TT. It cost me less than the current price, and it’s fantastic. It’s a delay, but also:
It has its own fx loop (put a pitch shifter in there), and expression pedal jack. And if you long-press the right button, it cycles through delay patterns (dotted 8th, etc), and kind of warps the sound as it does so.
Totally amazing. And also, the iOS Model D app, which sounds as good (to me) as the hardware, plus it has presets and polyphony.
Rhino guitar amp sim (currently in beta) is simply amazing!
For me the free ChowCentaur is the best iOS guitar pedal paid or not. I use it both for adding warmth to clean sounds and for distortion (occasionally using two in series).
Sometimes boutique pedals aren’t that expensive, and I have a few from Ananashead (https://www.ananashead.com), which is a one person outfit.
I love the sound of these pedals, which are carefully crafted clones of some older pedals, and moderately priced. This guy really knows how to build some great fuzz pedals, and clones of famous treble boosters.

The app I always forget about is GarageBand. Maybe because you can't stick it in the input slot of anything.
It's free and has so much good stuff inside it.
The Spectrum bundle from Burns Audio is a port of Mutable Instruments modules to ios. This is my personal favorite free app.
Yes!!! +1
Super nice bundle!
