Doug's demo:
Was waiting on this one. Downloading now
At this moment in time, yes! Was expecting a clearer, more pristine sound.
Did the developer promise a clear, pristine sound?
Well the first AltiSpace wasn’t like this to the best of my remembrance
One would expect that capability from a convolution reverb armed with good IRs even if it also has settings that allow for getting dirty. Btw, I am not saying Altispace sounds degraded...merely that the capability to create pristine sound is something I would expect from a high-quality convolution app.
To my mind the sound is great, Igor thinks the sound is better than AltiSpace one. Did u watch my percussion demo video @oat_phipps? You can hear clearly there both the sound quality and experimental possibilities
I'm liking the sound, and I haven't heard any glitches, but maybe these relate to the particular unit that was sampled? Just a thought.
I do hope Igor plans to add the visual aspect of the original app some day, being able to see both the IR and the EQ was a nice feature and useful, the new interface is more typical but I guess easier on the CPU.
A quick test with a vocal sample from Black Octopus, using some of the chamber and plate presets:
I am playing something.
Now I have plugged in a sound-altering device.
The sound is altered.
Help!
Does anyone have both versions? Are there any additional IR with the new version?
I’m also having what sounds like bit reduction issues. If I use as an auv3 effect in drambo even with the reverb turned off in the auv3 itself, my sounds have some pretty nasty artifacts in the higher frequencies. Is this just part and parcel of the effect?
Sorry for the portrait vid but hopefully you’ll hear the unwanted effect I’m talking about.
It's definitely noticeable in the video; I heard the same artifacts when I tried it out a couple of weeks ago
Damn. I wonder if its intended to be a bit "lofi". If so might not be the reverb for me. It's a mint app in every other way but that is not quite the kind of colour I want on my sounds ahah.
Does this happen in AUM for you as well?
Unfortunately yep. Uploading a vid atm to show ya but it’s the same
Might it be in the super high frequencies?. As in the ones I can’t hear anymore… cos I can’t hear the difference!. I’m intrigued and sort of depressed
Nah completely fair it’s def hard to pick if you haven’t got headphones on? One of those things. Once you notice it it really jumps out at ya.
Have you checked to see if the artifacts you are talking about are present if you lower the level of the signal into the effect? The signal level shown in the video is pretty high. If the IR being used has a bump, you might be introducing digital distortion.
Do you have the artifacts with all IRs?
interesting, I can replicate this when using the headphone jack but when using an audio interface it's not happening, is it the same for you with an interface?
Still present when feedin a low gain signal peaking around -24db in AUM. I’ve tried out around 20 impulse presets and it’s the same on each
Interesting. I’ll give it a go with my digitakt in the morning and see if it pops up. Pretty cheeky bug if it doesn’t
Hmm can you compare using 44.1 and 48 kHz sample rates with your interface?
I've just tried with 44.1 24bit but I'm not able to try with 48K on my Iconnect without having to reload everything from my computer which I'd rather not do at the moment, but will try with another 48k device at some point....
And people said I was crazy. Told ya
sounds like a bitcrusher
This looks like a problem with 48K and through the headphone jack, I can replicate it by switching sample rates but it's not happening on 44.1 for me.
