Bang, Bow And Blow
A bit of a retrospective on my favorite acoustic tracks from the last 3 years. I plan to do another collection of synth stuff. All to wrap up reaching the 500 mark. Who knows, this might be the end of it, but I hope not.
Every track is improvised. Headphones make it happen.
Comments
I thoroughly enjoyed “Lithium” Mike, even listening on my iPhone speakers at work. I’ll give the rest of the album a spin later.
Thanks for listening @Edward_Alexander.
What a wonderful Jazz album.
Classic and modern styles in any order.
Great work!
Liked Lithium, like Fugue even more… still listening…
Other favorites: Decaf in Blue, Destiny Calling (very melancholy), Strung, The Death of Socrates, Requiem.
They’re all very good, I just happen to like these more.
Thanks so much @rs2000. It’s been an exciting ride.
Thanks for listening @NeuM. Much appreciated!
It's hard to believe you improvised "Fugue". It boggles the mind... Id have to practice those parts for days to come close to playing those notes.
@McD, I, too, would have to put in a lot of practice time to play this track if I had to read it from a transcript. Don’t forget I juiced the bpm to almost double. Still, it is astonishing to have invented it on the fly… for me, anyway. Really good classical pianists can’t improvise this stuff all day long… as did the old masters, for whom every day improvising was SOP.
Nice, nice, nice... great performances, you have an unique talent to make impro music.
regards, frenq
@McD it is possible listen to Jan Vayne...

He's a master of the organ. Too much natural reverb in the video but I suspect it's awesome in the hall.
I'd love to hear him play these ideas on a rack of synths.
McD, what i want to say is that good musicians like LL can improvise in all keys when they want and yes we normal souls have to practice those keys and notes.![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Thanks for listening @Frenq. My musicianship, however, is pretty limited. I cannot improvise in all keys… unless I do it accidentally.
I wonder what the stats are for key centers in @Linerlineman's work. Maybe I'll just document the
2 "Best of LL" albums for key choices. I wonder if he modulates in his free style improvs. Don't hold your breath... there's a lot going on here in the monkey cage.
1.Lithium = starts with C Major Pentatonic but end in G Major
2.Fugue = starts in G major but contrasts with G minor ends there
3.Luminescence At Dawn = settles into A minor
4.Decaf In Blue = A minor
5.Destiny Calling = C Major
6.Strung = G minor
7.The Death Of Socrates = G major but ends on a G Maj 7 (jazzy ending)
8.Into The A.M. = C minor with a lot of jazzy Maj 7's added
9.Requiem = G minor
C major on 2 tracks
C Minor on 1 track (3 flats)
G major 2 tracks (1 sharp)
G minor 2 tracks (2 flats)
A minor on 2 tracks
Definitely a predilection for the white keys overall. I feel better
because this are my goto's as well for long format rambles.
I read the title as a “fuck, marry, kill” variant
I got "Finger, Curtsy and Cocaine"... potentially in a loop.
NOTE: this idea chatter serves to keep the post on Page One and supports the artist to grow an audience.
I try to search for "0 comment" threads in the "Creations" category to insure people get some feedback on their efforts. Many have posted their work, noticed dozens of views and "0 comments"... it can be heartbreaking for the artist. Sometimes the artist will comment with a general "WFT people" response
which is NOT a good look on this generally supportive forum.
Of course, a lot of music won't be to your taste but there's generally something to admire when someone exposes their sensitive creative impulse. Finding something positive to say requires tact and
creativity in many cases.
Are we a bunch of fragile snowflakes? Pretty much. Criticism (even when well intended) can destroy
the drive to create and stifle the impulse to share.
The @LinearLineman has spent his whole life in creative pursuits and has the drive it takes to make
art the center of his life. I'll just say it... I don't have that drive and fold like a cheap card table after
any off hand comment that doesn't sit well with my fragile (but very large) ego. Conquering writer's
block and the impulse to spend more time collecting software and gear than doing the work are my
biggest failings. We get a finite amount of time and having a body of work can sustain you in the twilight years... "I made these. Not too shabby."
I wish I had more time to listen to your music. You are quite a prolific composer!
This is a fine album. My favorite is Decaf In Blue. I especially liked when the muted trumpet walked in.
I would be interested to know what you used.
Thank you @Paulieworld. I would, indeed, be prolific if I were a composer. Since everything is improvised maybe voluminous is a better word. I believe Decaf In Blue used the SWAM Trumpet.
If you listen to this album, Essential Synths, Pictures At A Planetarium, In The Key Of Jazz, and Metals, you will have heard the best of me. All on BandCamp.

Bang, bow, and blow? Sounds like a weekend in Vegas!
You recall correctly... the original "release" thread for this music states:
and so it goes... (a Vonnegut catch phrase)...
I'm sure there are some great pieces in the 500 that many would like but that Mike (@Linearlineman) might not for some particular reason.
If Mike does an album of "Fan Favorites" I would submit "Glistener" for inclusion:
Do you have a favorite in his catalog of 500 tracks on SoundCloud?
@McD, I would have included Glistener since you like it so much, but it was neither acoustic or synth. Strangely, my most popular track is Glidepath with 1700+ views. Don't know why.
Good one, tnx.
Just finished listening to the whole thing. Great album.
Very beautiful and a bit of fresh air! And I have only listened to Lithium so far!
Thanks so much @zvon. I hope you’ll enjoy the rest.
Finally got round to listening… outstanding music. Favourites were Lithium, Destiny Calling and The Death of Socrates. Only tiny thing I didn’t like was the tremolo on the Flugel on Decaf in Blue… so only 99.999 out of a 100 overall.
Thanks, @GeoTony, for your assiduity..
Google: as·si·du·i·ty /ˌasəˈd(y)o͞oədē/ constant or close attention to what one is doing.
OK... I had to check to see if we need to alert @Michael for personal attacks. Seems like a passive-aggressive compliment.![B) B)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/sunglasses.png)
Thank goodness I can now admit to having to Google it… I’ll take any sort of complement, I’m not fussy!
