So I finally tested out Djay Pro AI app, and here are my impressions
Decided to share my first impressions with the Djay application. Gotta say, I’m impressed.
Summary…
- I think the app is brilliant. I haven’t been this excited about an app since Drambo.
- Am I a fan of the subscription model? No…
- Does it work with MIDI controllers? Hell yeah. It works with the Novation Launchpad, and a DJ2GO2 controller.
- Lots more cool features which I can’t cover in this summary…
There’s a lot of great things about the application, despite the subscription model (although I did cancel the trial after this video). Might do a proper review, but wanted to share this first impressions video.

What does the AI aspect do?
It makes use of the Deezer technology and allows the audio of the song to be split into drums, bass, melody, vocals. It’s pretty great, especially as it’s happening live.
@Tarekith Does that neural processing like spleeter (but more real-time) where you can isolate the vocal, drum, other to mix as if they were stems. You know how audio is though, sometimes it works well, sometimes not depending on how it was mixed. Think there is a trial period for that AI part.
Cool thanks for clarifying that!
@seonnthaproducer : Have you tied remix live? I wonder how it compares.
I really like what Remix Live is doing. I got to beta test the new update with a few others and I like the random generated loops.
I believe with the controller though, you need to get the MIDI unlock. When I made the video, it worked naturally, but it wasn't loaded with as much features.
I'd say Remix Live is more of a live loops workflow than an actual DJ application. You can certainly perform with it, but for live gigs, Djay Pro makes a ton more sense, as most listeners know commercial music more than projects.
So, to summarize, Djay for live gigs, Remix Live if you want to take sounds to the next level.
the midi controller option is what i purchased with remixlive... as that makes controlling the sounds/samples more useful
Djay Pro is a lot of fun and the realtime stem a-lifting is a cool gee-whiz feature that allows for some cool transitions, though the sound quality isn’t there for e.g. breaking down a track to an acapella. My Traktor S3 controller in MIDI mode is plug-and-play with the software so that’s cool.
I wish the library management were better. One subscription covers macOS, iOS and iPadOS, but there’s no synchronization of playlists, cue points, etc. between devices.
In the end I’m still on Traktor, but if Djay Pro added library sync, it’d be tempting to switch and have a cross-device workflow.
I’m also drawn to Mixxx, which is free and open-source, but there’s no iOS version
@triple7 : Where can I find that midi control option? Is it once I subscribe ?
if you subscribe... the option for midi control will be available..
but only remains available so long as you are subscribed!!
you will find the map controllers in the settings...
do note: if your midi controller doesnt provide feedback... then it likely wont work with LED's lighting up etc
so do take that into consideration...
i have a maschine Jam midi controller which provides midi feedback which i have also mapped to remixlive... best controller out there in my view!!
