Keyboard interfaces

Howdy,
This may not be the place to ask this, but...
should I get a synthstation 25 or an IK media keyboard? Anybody got a strong opinion on either?

Comments

  • Not me, since I don't own either, but I would ask why you're limiting it to those two. I have an M-Audio Oxygen 49, and I love it. It works with most apps and the iPad4 can power it.

  • Synthstation's keyboard is prone to double notes. :(

  • I have IK Multimedia's iRig keys. It's okay but there's an issue with connecting to the iPad midi. The included iOS cable is hit or miss. Sometimes it connects fine and sometimes not. the included USB cable works in conjunction with Apple's camera connect all the time. feedback from IK Multimedia says this issue arose with iOS version 6. Haven't heard if this issue is fixed yet.

  • Thanks for the help! The reason I asked about those two is they fit my budget. I am not a keyboard player and don't really need a pro level solution, I just want to be able to use some synths live to make sound design for a play I'm scoring.

I suppose nothing under $100 will charge my iPhone, huh.

  • Synthstation 25 is more portable and can be used on battery power. I use it with iPod and it works great. It only has 25 keys as opposed to Irig which has 37. Irig works with ipad and iPod. You have to make adjustments for Synthstation to work with ipad. You might take a look at m-audio Axiom air mini 32 under $100 or the Samson Carbon 49 key which is less portable but has slot for ipad and under $100.
