Vortex (Alchemy, Thor, TC-Data on older iPad + Timeless 3)
This is a new music track that I improvised on an older iPad running iOS 10.3.3. I used the TC-Data app as a MIDI front-end for the Alchemy Mobile and Thor synth apps. And I used the AUM app to connect everything and record the music.
After bringing the AUM recording over to my PC, I added Fabfilter's Timeless 3 plugin to the mix in Vegas Pro.

Restrained beauty. I enjoyed it. (And wished I had Thor too!)
Real nice!
Thanks, @Svetlovska and @Pxlhg. Much appreciated.
It would be great if Alchemy and Thor could somehow be restored for the current generation of iPads. I've been able to keep Thor going on my newest iPad, but its performance and preset handling are glitchy.
How tough was it to set up the TC Data? I just reacquainted myself with the TC 11 and Performer apps. Don’t have the Data.
__Arresting abstract visuals, David. The best I’ve seen here. How did you make them?
Ditto. Are the visuals from TC Data?
Fantastic visuals!
For the visuals, I tend to use Astrofox, Magic, and other PC-based visualizers as a starting point. Then I transform them with various video FX plugins within Vegas Pro.
In this case, I leaned heavily on Vegas Pro’s Mirror and Swirl video FX plugins to make the graphics more symmetrical and dynamic. The video plugins can be adjusted while previewing the music and visuals, so you can experiment in real-time to find the video FX settings that best match the music.
I’ve gotten better results lately using visuals that were not generated from the music track. I try to find independent visuals that are close enough in tone and pace, and then use the video effects to make them more abstract or structurally interesting.
Since my recent music has tended to be melodically simple on the surface, but more complex in its evolving textures, I try to achieve the same thing with the visuals. Ideally, the music and visuals should stand on their own, just as a classic silent film and a modern-day accompanying orchestration would ideally be able to stand on their own.
Thanks, David!
I had a feeling this was done with Vegas on the PC. Thanks for confirming!
It's easy to set up. There's a good assortment of presets that you can use as is.
Think of TC-Data as similar to TC-11, except there's no synth engine. Instead, the output is sent out as MIDI info, which most synth apps (or hosts like AUM) will see as a MIDI keyboard.
TC-Data also lets you alter the presets in ways that you can't do with TC-11 or TC-Performer.

Gracias!
Beautiful stuff! Loved it
