USB cable no longer recognized for MIDI connection

Hello,

I bought 1 week ago a USB cable to connect my iPad Pro to both a MIDI Keyboard and a DAC :
https://www.amazon.fr/gp/aw/d/B099NKQ91Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

It worked perfectly since day 1, without any hesitation…
But since 2 days, the MIDI is no longer recognized. Only the USB DAC still works. I can plug/unplug the cable, restart the iPad, but to no avail !
I remember it did this also with another cable, as if once the iPad had blacklisted the device, it could no longer be used.
Did anyone experienced this and have some sort of workaround ?

Thanks a lot !

  • @Paulo164 Have you tried changing the order of making the connections? Make the iPad connection last, or connect the keyboard last. I assume the MIDI keyboard is powered from the iPad. This can make things tricky, since the iPad may be trying to identify the KB while it's still powering up.

  • Hi,
Thanks for your answer. In fact the midi keyboard is self-powered. But anyway, I quitted all apps and restarted again the iPad. Then plugged and powered the keyboard and finally launched Ravenscroft to check and...miracle, the MIDI connection appeared ! I am relieved because I was afraid not to be able to get that MIDI connection anymore...

Good. I'd definitely recommend that you power the KB before connecting it to the USB, so it's fully ready before it starts to communicate with iOS.

    Yes, exactly. Thanks again.
