Also, I‘m pretty sure i got it for 100 bucks cheaper than that
My friend also bought one recently and it was much more expensive than the price I paid. I think it has to do with the electronics shortages.
Microfreak 5.0 now out.
let's goooo..... hmmm not seeing this firmware on the website?
@Jumpercollins actually, it not out yet.
Looks ace, not seen it on the website yet, looking forward to dropping some valves on there that aren't just wavetables!
Time to dig out the MicroFreak again
Will be nice to see how much storage we get for user samples...
Release planned May 30th - with Hilda, Noises and Mela 4 I'm glad its not 'till then!
Hopefully we get these features on Minifreak VST.
😍
A wonderful surprise! I was thinking that the release of the MiniFreak will be the end of MicroFreak development. Glad I was wrong! The box seems to have lots of memory reserve: User samples, new synth engines and 512 preset slots. With the audio (vocoder) input it would be ace if the synth could directly record samples, but it looks as if that won't be possible.
But who knows. We had MicroFreak surprises before: At first the "MicroFreak Vocoder edition", then they admitted that every MF has the audio input and a vocoder enabled firmware upgrade for all MicroFreaks.
That's great, sample oscillators! Looking forward to using this.
🤯 best $400 I’ve spent yet, I’m glad I held off on the Lemon Drop 😅
Another freaking good update, thank you Arturia, hopefully you’ll show some love to the neglected iOS scene too.
Apparently over 3 minutes of sample time...
512 slots for user presets and an option for even snappier envelopes
About 210 seconds of sample time as displayed in MCC.
New model aswell.
Oh snap!
That’s one sexy Freak ❤️ I love the touch surface look 👀
I hope my Freak don’t get jelly from me gawking
after looking at this update its Fricken brilliant, poly aftertouch and mod matrix on these sample functions will be awesome!
Never mind Logic, this is a tech development I can really get behind! Very excited for this, taking some of my mangled IOS noises out to play in the Freak zone. And for free! The Microfreak is the little synth that just keeps on giving.
The one mod that would be cool is recording onboard to capture samples on the fly. Technically the mic input is a start. I wonder if a firmware update could add recording…
Yeah I wondered that, and possibly then, granular effects processing 🤔
Great thought!
I feel like the MicroFreak is Arturia’s best selling synth, perhaps we will continue to receive major updates for many more years to come. They really set the bar high for the competition: great customer service, great products and great prices!
this was the most interesting review/take on new firmware:
A video on the new presets, some of them are great considering there is no effect applied:
I so can't wait for this update. Love my freak to pieces
For those who have never used this: The MicroFreak is not only a great synthesizer, it makes a great MIDI controller in a portable setup and fits perfectly into the iOS plug in ecosystem.
For my own use I made a little Mozaic script "FreaKontrol" that allows for easy switching of MIDI channels. Play and control all your favourite apps and synths from the freak. You need to disable "local" mode in the freaks MIDI settings and use your plug in host to connect the freak to both the mozaic input and output. Explanations are in the script.
The wee script is now on patchstorage: https://patchstorage.com/freakontrol/
Yeah forget Logic, this is the news of the week for me, just a shame there's a release delay
This 5.0 update when it drops on may 30th will make me dig out the MicroFreak again...
...wonder for how long though as the small display hurts my eyes so bad it causes severe head-aches
Cheers @Samu thats first I heard about the release date
I enjoyed this idea from Automatic Gainsay. May try sampling my iOS Model D app if I don't find real Minimoog samples somewhere online:
