No problems yet
I’m in. went in last night from 14.8 everything fine so far… app icons are smaller a little weird at first, but no issues yet. I haven’t put her (my iPad identifies as she/her) through the paces. So I’ll report back here soon, after a day of testing.
Most things work fine for me...
Some effect plug-ins (Perforator being one of them) has some issues in Cubasis 3 but work fine in other hosts...
...so I guess we'll have to wait for a Cubasis update or something?!
In total I've gone thru ~250 apps on my iPad Air 2 and just a few have issues when loaded to hosts but no real 'show stoppers'.
I'm on 15.1 on my iPad Air 2, iPhone 8 and AppleTV.
Question is what are you running at the moment?
If you're already on 15 there's no reason not to updated to 15.1.
Cheers!
So far…
Cleared up like 4Gb of space on my device.
I have IAA apps working in AUM, some need to be opened prior to using them.
I had to turn a specific setting off to view the Mela 2 app correctly, settings->Accessibility-> Display & Text -> Button Shapes.
All good.. so far.. 👍 iPad 6th gen.
How stable is cubasis under iOS 15 ? I remember seeing post from devs they’re working on an update for the new os version. Cubasis last update was 4 months ago..
Some plug-ins don't work as expected in Cubasis 3. Perforator is one, Turnado is another...
...but overall it's been quite solid. (Those plug-ins work fine in other hosts).
I would not be surprised if we see a Cubasis update next Black Friday or something.
I’m not seeing any issues. Also macOS Monterey was released and it seems quite good so far.
I don’t have CB3 but just wrote a quick track in CB2, with audio, midi, AU’s, fx, etc… and everything worked great. Hooray. Glad I updated. Was waiting for 15.1.
Mine’s an iPad Pro 10.5 (2017 I think). Am still on 14.8 but I like some of the new features in 15 on my phone.
My most important music apps are Cubasis 3 and AUM - anyone have any experience with iPadOS 15 on this device?
i installed it on ipad and phone now…so far so good but i did not stresstest anything. For now i just tried some old (abandonned) apps were i get nervous before each ios update.
I haven’t had any issues. So far so good. Other then having to turn off some odd accessibility setting to get the Mela 2 ui to show up properly, which is nothing. So so far so good here too.
Haven't noticed any new issue with Cubasis, at least in my workflow
Apple: “Hey, we have a new release, users are going to love our new Wizbangs!”
Users: “Please don’t break existing apps, please don’t break existing apps (and I’m not bothered about the new Wizbangs…)”
THIS!
Have you had any issues? The last several updates actually fixed my problems.
Perforator and Envolver have been broken in Cubasis 2 and 3 since OS 15.x, a MIDI thing.
Alright folks - I've been hesitant to upgrade to iOS 15 as my iPad is my only computer at the moment. I'm running my 2017 iPad Pro 12". Anyone had any issues with this? I read all about the problems when it was initially rolled out (as per usual) but I'm trying to hold off until things are smooth.
Anyone with the same model iPad taken the plunge?
Speaking for myself, I have an older iPad Pro model and everything is going great now. I had some really bad issues prior to the last two rapid updates.
I have an iPad 6 2018, and all is well after 36 hours.
I always wait to make sure it’s ok before I jump in. I just have a perception that half of what gets delivered are changes for changes sake rather than real steps forward. But I’m probably just being cynical! 😂
15.2 already in beta...
So if it continues at this rate we'll get 15.9.9 before 16 drops
I've installed it now (15.2) -- looks to be working fine in initial tests of music apps.
They seem to be pushing the announced features that didn't make the initial release piece-by-piece in the point releases. Hopefully means that there won't be much happening to the audio system since it's working well right now.
If you have both Cubasis 3 and Bram Bos's Perforator can you check if it loads in 15.2?
It fails bad under 15.1 just a 'black view' and some Sugar-Bytes effects suffer from it, apparently something to do with AUv3 Midi Effects. It's strange that they only fail in Cubasis but work in all other hosts...
Most of the apps I have work perfectly but there are some sour lemons that really irk me and it's mostly host related.
Hopefully we'll see a Cubasis 3 update by Black Friday or something...
I don't have either so I can't test them unfortunately. I'll go check the release notes, but those have been pretty useless as far telling what has been fixed over the last couple of years.
Edit: unless either of them use SwiftUI (which I highly doubt), there's nothing in the release notes to give any hope.
Should be enough to check if there's some AUv3 related fixes?
From what I've understood is that effect plug-ins with midi support can no longer return 'null' or something like that?!
The only host I have where the plug-ins fail is Cubasis 3. They work without issues in all the others...
So it's either a Cubasis 3 issue or iOS15.x issue as the plug-ins apparently work under iOS14 and Cubasis 3.
Thankfully there are other 'audio-chop-gate plug-ins' that can be used while waiting for a 'fix'.
Cheers!
Not really. The beta release notes almost never have any information about what has been changed or fixed in the audio stuff. The initial beta for iOS 15 had a note that AU's now provide custom views that could be displayed by the host. I think they actually meant that some of the builtin AU's now had UI's, but it was poorly worded.
That's interesting because Cubasis 3 may be the only host that is doing custom things with the interaction with the AU render block. I'm thinking this because Cubasis 3 does some multithreading and they may need to control some of this interaction outside of the default path. It may end up being an interaction between two or three of the parties and that can lead to some pretty hard to fix bugs.
OT: there is now an 14.8.1 update “for the rest of us”. It’s a security fix. I was tempted to go to 15 for the security stuff but now that Apple’s patched 14, I might stay on it for a couple more weeks (at least).
@Daveypoo, I have the same pro. No problems with 15.
I didn’t have any broken apps, it it fixed some broken iOS things. Prior to this update, I couldn’t enter a passcode to exit guided access.
