macOS Monterey

Seems like a good update.

I'm loving the spacial audio for Netflix etc...

  • I’m stuck on Catalina until I can get a newer Mac (going to be a while for me), bit good to hear positive reports about it.

  • I’m on Catalina too.... I can but dream....

  • I was on Catalina (which I liked a lot) until very recently when some compatibility issues forced me to update to Big Sur. My experience was terrible – laggy basic functionality, graphics glitches, crashes, etc.

Luckily Monterey came out soon after. So far, it has fixed all those issues. Fingers crossed it stays that way... seems much more stable and even a bit faster.

What MacBook was this on? I've got a 2017 MacBook Air on Catalina running well Ami PPand am wondering if I should update to Big Sur or Monterrey.

  • @bato It's a 2018 MacBook Pro (13-inch)

  • It seems like there are still devs who haven’t updated their software for Big Sur. I’m worried about Monterey compatibility issues. It seems like there have been issues since moving past High Sierra…

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • All seems good here with apps I’ve used since upgrading my MacBook Pro a couple of days ago.

  • At the Arturia page on Monterey, the recommendation is to wait until Arturia has verified their plugins work. Has anybody with a Monterey install tried those plugins? Like Synclavier V, Prophet V, SQ-80 V, Buchla Easel V or any of the others?

    Yes and they work fine.

Thanks for that, much appreciated. Now I just need Roland to update the driver for my FA-06.

All good for me too 👍

    Thanks again.

  • FL Studio seams to work quite well, though only initially tested, D16 Group plugins aren’t compatible yet.

I don’t get why Roland make so much gear that is not class compliant. Everything else I own just works on MacOS, but my Roland SE-02…

I agree. And it's actually easier to make the gear class compliant (audio as well as MIDI) once than to have to rewrite and test custom code for each OS update. In addition class compliant means it will work with iOS, Android and Linux. More potential Roland customers there.

  • Just as an aid to any Roland owners here, I post the links to the compatibility pages at the Roland site.

  • I recently invested in some software for my MacBook Air (M1) running Monterey. I’m using Bitwig 4, Arturia Software and quite a bit from Softube and it works marvellous. With IDAM it’s also pretty easy to get some audio from my iPad into Bitwig.

  • Hello everyone.. Can anyone who is using MacOS Monterey tell me if Audiothing, Waves or UAD plugins are working well?
I'm on the fence to upgrade, still on mojave.
