Top 5 Features I Want From Cubasis 3

In this video we’ll be going over the top 5 features we want to see implemented most inside of Cubasis 3.

Comments

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • AU effects multi-out support, and.. more time signature options (like 6/8, 7/8, etc).. These would be my top feature requests for Cubasis 3.

    I hate watching videos.

Maybe mention those 5 points as text too?

But if he does that, no one will watch the video.
That said, I get where you’re coming from. So here’s a question...how can YouTubers like @MobileMusicPro effectively engage with their audience without the use of videos?

  • A timeline - so you can change time signature and tempo. My first computer sequencer (Dr.T) had this in the 1980s, I can’t believe that Cubasis still hasn’t got it in 2021 (almost 2022).

A bullet list doesn't substitute for the video for the people who want all the details, but works well enough for people who weren't going to watch it anyway.

    @celtic_elk : XaCT!💯👍😉

  • I didn’t watch it, but I clicked through and copied-and-pasted from the description:

    Tempo Track (2:18)
    Chord Track (3:26)
    Drum Sequencer (5:39)
    Pro Sampler (6:46)
    U.I Enhancements (8:15)

Being transparent with the title of one's post might help. As is, this post is simply an ad for a YouTube video. It has no more information. But that's absolutely not what the title promises, is it.

If you want to attract people to your video, be transparent about that in the title ("Video: The top 5 features I want..."). Easy. I mostly like videos from forum members, but I hate clickbait.

    Well, my two cents anyway.

Agreed. I’ll go a step further and posit that this is a bad choice of content for a video in the first place. I guarantee you that writing a forum post that conveyed the same information would take less than the 13:30 needed to watch the video, let alone the actual time consumed in producing it.

  • I'm confused. Is it what "we" want or "I" want?

I can see all of you with no more videos to watch on YT…. So cool. I stopped making them a long time ago. Making a video during 30 hours for no money, 100/200 views and 5/10 comments, it was better to use my time and ideas to make music with those apps instead :p

    • Dragging out a Midi part repeats the notes inside (as in Ableton)
    • Groove quantize including extracting the groove from an audio file
    • First class Midi FX track that can send Midi to more than one instrument (as in AUM)
    • Drum sequencer
    • Group track folding
    • Live loops 😜

    Thank you! 👍🏼

+1 for a sampler that deserves the name.

  • Multi-timbral support.

Being able to instantiate any number of multi-timbral apps
and route any number of midi lanes to them would be great.

For example when we instantiate an instance of Beathawk
we can only route one midi channel to that Beathawk.

Another thing would be nesting tracks.

Vortex references the MobileMusicPro channel as a “We”, as opposed to “I”.

Back to the previous posts, I don’t know. Some stuffs can be summarized with video because it allows the creator to express their ideas without the limitation of a wall of text. Plus it keeps their community engaged, which was exactly the reason why I asked the question earlier.

I get where you’re coming from with the bullet form. It’s easier for the user to read, get the information, and leave. But doesn’t that defeat the purpose of being a content creator, and sharing ideas with their community?

  • @MobileMusic : Scratching my head at some of the negative reaction to your very fine video here . You are amongst the handful of ios elite on here these days alongside Doug Woods, Jakob Haq, Gavinski , ipadbeatmaking , Henny , Brandon and Nutrix. Ignore the haters, the video was tops!

Always check the video description ;)

The I in the description is referring to 'Vortex', the 'We' in the video is referring to channel + the many people that have expressed similar ideas in forums.

Thank you Telstar! :) It's all good, some people just don't like their own lives very much and feel the need to take it out on others.

You have to operate with a higher purpose than views and fame in order to succeed in anything in life, youtube is no different.

Just my thoughts about the prices and professional audio software on the iPad. First of all Logic for iPad was just a rumor. But a very high profile rumor as it originated from the well informed Apple leaker Jon Prosser. I think this is very likely to happen but I think not the Logic as we know it on the Mac. I think it will be a touch optimized variant but able to work on the same projects as the desktop Logic. Somewhat similar to the relation between the desktop and mobile Garage Band. I believe in this because I see a lot of activity of Apple for a seamless workflow to work on a project across several Apple devices including the iPad. Remember the continuity demo? This will be a unique selling point for the Apple ecosystem.

For professional software I think the 30% for Apple is a huge problem. Selling a $600 DAW means paying almost $200 to Apple. If you have such an expensive distribution channel you simply can not fund a development that is on par with the desktop software. But if this is the case then pro users will not buy the iPad version and stay on the desktop. IMHO if Apple does not make distribution of professional software cheaper we won’t see it on the iPad. I think what actually does work is stripped down professional software at a lower price point. Cubasis for instance. I believe they are profitable with the app but I guess that the development team is not very big and Cubasis will most probably never be as feature rich as Cubase. I think with a smaller team you can not maintain such a large code base as Cubase has got. I’m working in the software industry and I know that for the whole life cycle of a software the maintenance costs and efforts are much higher than the initial development.
