I'm thinking Rock Opera concept album. How about something based on a public domain material: Greek Tragedy? Oedipus? the Hero's Journey in a Spacesuit? Zen stories?
"Waiting for Drambo" 2021 a Synth Odyssey.
@McD, “Rock Opera”… now if that doesn’t reek of the past nothing does…. Tho I still like “Space Opera”.
"This is the Future. The year is 1988 - the year the Earth collides with the Sun and Humanity reaches to the stars..."
It's like the opening to a reimagining of a lost HG Wells novel scored in 1974. Love it.
Very Alan Parsons Project meets Anthony Phillips' 1984 meets Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.
@Daveypoo, you are absolutely right about Jeff Wayne! I hadn’t thought about his fantastic War of the Worlds with nine analog synths… tho I have read he was not the main composer. Relistening to this track I really hear the influence of having seen that on YouTube with Richard Burton narrating.
It certainly makes @McD s rock opera comment more Germaine.
😁 - I'd love to hear you 'score' a sci-fi novel, or even an imagined one...
Germaine = being at once relevant and appropriate
The essential word in this definition is "once"! But I'll take it.
Funny that auto spell capitalizes germaine @McD. It’s mind is always on women, apparently.
