Au parameter automation, playing effects
Hi, hoping someone can help I’d like to use garageband for recording as I prefer it to any of the other daws on iOS which are all unstable or just not great for me. So I’m left with a couple of questions- not sure how I’ll tackle freezing tracks if I’m using a lot of effects or if I’ll need to, maybe just do it manually, bouncing down or exporting out then back in individual tracks. Is there any way to import audio to garageband? Or is it some ridiculous aum record in audiobus with a sampler type deal?
But my main question is regarding fx parameter automation. I’m getting a korg nanokontrol and haven’t really messed with this in a daw but I’d like to be able to ‘play’ the effect and record the automated parameters, so for example if I’d laid down say an instrument track, I could then selec an effect and as the track plays back play the dials faders etc to manipulate ccs. Prob very newb question but how would I achieve this? Is it something you’d do in another daw like auria etc. Then could redraw the automation lines and tinker for each effect parameter after.
Ive been thinking main recording garageband.then this kind of stuff in Auria or even on a instrument track by track basis exporting out to do automation then back to garageband. But if it’s onerous exporting importing to garageband I’m not sure. Just trying to work out the best workflow as I can’t use other daws. Auria literally crashes every single time I open it and I’ve done everything - always some effect breaks it. I don’t even really like the app and I love the garageband instruments.
