AUM Suggestion....or......is there a way to.....

Hi,
I am using a single instance of Atom Roll 2 - to send MIDI notes to 2(two) instances of the MIDI KeyZone Utility; each instance drives or plays a different instrument. One instance of MIDI Key Zone plays a bass part, the other a piano part. All 3 of these (Atom Roll and the 2 instances of MIDI Key Zone Utility) are on a single channel /track in AUM.

SoOOOoooo...... for ease of use.... I'm wondering if there's a way to 'name' the slots or plug-ins in a channel in AUM?

Right now, I see the Atom Roll Icon at the top of my MIDI Channel, and then two MIDI Key Zone Icons below it. It would be NICE to rename the plugin slots. I would name one instance of the MIDI KeyZone "Bass" and the other instance "Piano"........ if I put this session away and come back to it 3 months later.... it would make it MUCH MUCH easier to understand.

Right now in AUM, you only see the ICON of the plugin/slot - which is of some benefit for sure. But in cases where you're using different instances of the same plugin ::: it would be helpful.

For example; maybe in one audio channel, I'm using 3 instances of Bleass Motion Fx each to accomplish a different Fx. This is not all that uncommon......

The other use case here is that you have/use some plugins very infrequently. (What....you buy stuff and don't use it much? uh, yeah). So in some cases, the ICON you see doesn't help much.

Just a suggestion..... if there's a way to rename the slots or plugin slots in a channel in AUM, let me know.

Thanks!!

  • You can name each channel
    But not the slots

But there sounds like an update is coming at some point

Perhaps it might become an option

  • @Vmusic If you double click on the name in AUMs plugin windows topbar, you can set the name shown below each icon (and in the midi matrix) and also specify the background color of the node.

That works for all types AUv3: instruments, effects and midi plugins.

Long-pressing an AU window's title bar brings up a panel to enter a short name for the node.

  • You can have each plugin instance a different name and colour, long tap on the top of the plugin window to bring up the option

  • Uh..... you totally ROCK!! Thank you so much.

  • On a side note ... AUM has built-in note range selectors for each channel. Unless you're doing fades between key zones, you may not even need those MIDI Key Zone instances.
