SECTOR not syncing properly with AUM

This was working OK until fairly recently, but now, SECTOR does not play back properly when tempo-synced to AUM.

When the "LINK" button is active, the clock speeds sync, but playback is severely disrupted, with only occasional sectors triggering.

If "LINK" is disabled, SECTOR works as normal, except not synced to AUM.

This is a regression of an old bug which occurred quite a while ago - maybe a couple of years, can't remember when exactly.

I wonder if someone else can reproduce this? Dev contacted.

Happens in:

  • iOS 15.0.2, 15.1;
  • AUM latest release version, and also beta 1.3.11

Thanks
Richard

I'm not seeing that here on iOS 14.8.
Is Follow IAA Host > Run/Stop & Clock turned on in Project > Sync Settings?

  • @wim Thanks for checking. Yes that setting is turned on.

It was working fine till about a week ago, with the settings I've used for ages. It seems to be a regression of a bug I contacted Jonatan about in May 2020, which he reproduced and fixed at the time.

The problem is not syncing as such. It's that playback is severely disrupted when that SECTOR is syncing to AUM clock, which I think uses some internal system rather than Ableton Link. Turning off Follow IAA Host resumes normal SECTOR playback, except that it isn't synced.

  • My sector will play, but no audio. If i quit and reopen it a couple times, audio will return, but not if it is loaded with the AUM project.
Sync is there. Sector play head is in sync. Just no audio.

That sounds pretty close to what I’m experiencing.

What iOS version are you on?

iOS15. But I can’t say when it started as I’m not super dependent on sector in AUM. It’s also not consistent so I figured it’s just PEBCAK with my session.
I use it standalone a lot to record hardware drum machines into it, make a bunch of versions/chops, and export the loops. Faster than trying to program 30 versions on the hardware.

I've also found it isn't consistent. After fighting to get it working last night, it suddenly started working, so no idea what is going on.

A processor memory limitation could explain this variation. How's it work if you force-quit apps, esp. browsers, YouTube, etc., then restart the iPad? This should give you a reasonably clean platform to start from.

  • I’ve tried that. Still the same thing intermittently.

  • I've done a soft reboot and then encountered the problem straight after.

  • Its also off because AUM's meter will be going like its receiving audio, just no sound.

  • Hm... it works fine here on air2 iOS15.
Playback, audio, follow host tempo all ok.
Standalone and as IAA inside AUM (beta).

Again, its intermittent. I just opened up a project now, and its working. 5 days ago it wasnt. Exact same project. It really isnt that big of a deal for me as I rarely use it in a host.

  • I’ll take a look as soon as I find some time for it!

No rush at all for me. again..i use it 95% standalone.

Is there a place you want us to submit screenshots or vids or logs when it does happen?

While you're at it @j_liljedahl, can you disable the time warp generator in this thing?? I fear even opening Sector because every time I do the next thing I know it's four hours later.

My neighbors make sure I know when I hit the 4 hour mark.
