ZOA Take Two: Syncretic

Couldn’t resist it. Two tracks in one day is a bit insane, but @rygrob ’s sequencer just wouldn’t let me go. So I decided to challenge myself and do something that wasn’t Dark Ambient.

Don’t rightly know what it is really? (Any printable suggestions welcome!)

It goes faster than 20 bpm. It’s even got a beat!… So what to call it? Glitch? Classical? Syncretism is the mashing together of disparate practices, so: ‘Syncretic’ is what it is.

As before, the only sequencer used is Zoa, drums by Drum Computer, bass/drum by BLEASS Sidekick chopped up by Glitchcore, synths by Addictive Pro, Animoog and Decent Sampler, faders ridden live in AUM, the usual complement of MIDIgates, MIDILFOs, plus MM1 and my fave reverbs.

Curious to know what people think.

I’ll stop now.

At least for today. :)

  • Cool! Fun track!

I almost forgot about this sequencer coming out last night. Thanks for the reminder!

There, I left a comment on yours 😉

  • I can take a hint… ;)

  • Nice work! I feel an electronic take on Ennio Morricone's Chamber Music vibe.

  • @phonokinetic : thank you! There is no higher praise :)

  • Wow, that was insane... I loved it!
I can picture Frank Zappa conducting it.

@Paulieworld : thank you! Once upon a time, in another life, some time in the mid to late 80s, I interviewed him (by phone only) about work he was doing with the Synclavier at the time.

He was a tough interview, a dauntingly serious dude a long way from the wacky funster image I had of him then, knowing him only through things like Valley Girl:

Boy, did I ever regret not having done my homework before I spoke to him…
